This is a quick guide to get users familiar with using FTP uploading, and I know a TON of you will be familiar with using it anyway!

The fastest, most reliable tool for FTP is FileZilla (http://filezilla-project.org/). Click on the link and download and we can go through the rest. :eusa_clap

Once you have successfully installed it, launch it up and you'll see a big collection of boxes and forms, at the top is where all your information is entered to access your website server. At the bottom is both your Local (on your PC) and your online (uploaded) files, your online files won't display until you're logged into the server.

Anyway, time to set it up!
Ask your hoster or company for some FTP information, just in case it differs from the information below!!!

In the HOST form put your website address as a subdomain (for example yoursite.myhost.com)

In USERNAME it could be a tad different, it's usually either the information you put in the HOST box, or most likely ([email protected]).

Next, in PASSWORD you put the password you would log onto your web host with, the one you signed up with at first. Input this and there's only one more thing left!

In PORT, put in 21 if you're planning to upload. Or 22 if you're using SFTP. It's very likely you need to put in 21.

Then click on Quickconnect and FileZilla will log onto your website server, and save your information so you don't have to type it all in later on!

Once FileZilla has loaded the information and files on your site, you can upload/download and edit/delete as much as you like! FileZilla will disconnect after a short period of time but any files you have in the upload queue will continue to upload.

Enjoy and give me all due feedback :P Thanks for reading. Hope this finds you well.

A tad uneeded, as it's easy to follow through.
But cool.

Nice tutorial, maybe you could write an easier one that involves no downloading?
something like ftp://username@iporhostnameordomain (ftp://username:password@ip:port) or whatever it is.

I think for the one that comes built into windows its

1. ftp://yoursite.com:21
2. type your username and password in the box that appears.

Filezilla sucks, always disconnects me from the server and times out. It's better to just use Windows Explorer.

The Windows FTP is screwy for me, so I don't see issues with FireZilla most of the time.
