Moving on?

This is really starting to aggrevate me..

Their is like 2 groups of people I know;

a like 'chavvy popular' group, and a 'skater/emo' group at school, and I'm friends with like everyone of each sort of group, but they said that I can only hang with one group..

What should I do?

True friends would understand that they can't control who you're friends with. Of course, they won't be too happy if you're spending more time with the other group than them, but, if you spread your time and attention equally, there's nothing to say that you can't be part of both groups. Like a skav (skater + chav) or a chemo (chav + emo)!

You can be whoever you want to be, and nobody, and I mean nobody has any right to tell you otherwise. You choose who you're friends with, you choose who you hang around with.

I have friends that are chavs, some are emos, some are goths, some indie - but still, it doesn't mean I have to be one of them - and they understand that. Just because I have some chav friends, it doesn't make me one.

Hey Supermassive, in my opinion I think people catagorizing people in a chav, emo, goth, grunger etc group seems a bit like discrimination because they judge one another on the style of clothes they wear and the music they listen to. I agree with the other user who said to pick the group who did not tell you to choose a group but if they both told you to choose between the groups then I think you should find yourself some new friends because people who make you choose are not worth being friends with. No one should make you pick friends to be with - real friends do not do that.

I hate it when people say "choose" Its so immature and pathetic.
Basically, who ever told you to chose,
say to them, I'm friends with you both and if you expect me to choose then you can't be a very good friend to me.
and don't give in and choose, hang round with them both at different times.

Well if you pick one group, the chances are you will fall out with all the people from the other group.
Real friends won't force you to choose.
The people who are asking you to make a choice, ask yourself, are they true and decent mates if they are making you basically become enemies with another group?
Sounds like you get along with everyone.
Stay that way.
You don't have to choose.
But stay close to the decent people in the groups, because they will accept your decisions :)

wait till you and them are older than 9 years old, i guess. eventually everyone, at least all the sane people grow out of groups in later school. if you think them making you choose a group is idiotic and immature (which you should) then tell them that.

the chav popular group. your social life will be WAY better, especially better parties! however, skater/emo groups tend to care more about school so it's up to you; be popular and get average grades or be a freak and get good grades :). i try to get the best of both worlds lol :P.


p.s. this is what it was like in my school, i have no idea what yours is like :P.

I think like some people said you should go with the ones who told you, you didnt have to choose. Choose the ones who have been there for you the longest and value your friendship.

I have 2 totally different groups of friends, they just accept it. :)

That is the best peice of advice really, if they want to make yo choose then really they arent the best people to be hanging around with because they shouldnt dictate what and you do and who you hang around with.

Tell both groups to go **** them selves and go find a better group of friends. It's what I did and my life turned from crap > great! And I met quite a few girls in my new group ;)
