I'm really shocked that the fansite that was announced all over the Habbo world by Sulake HQ as "the best Official Fansite in the world" is still keeping it's official status after they are allowed to organise big MEET UPS?!

They also have a section of the site where the allow the users to post pictures of themselves... i'm sorry, but in the UK, if you do so much as even get your radio taken over for a few minutes, you can be removed - so how the hell does HabboTimes get away with organising meetups, and posting photos?!

Not only that, but it's also a massive security risk - what's from stopping pedophiles and rapists from just turning up...

Discuss.

The organization team of this year welcomes you to a new opportunity to meet your friends from the Habbo hotel. We would like to invite you to the HabboMeet 2008 #1 on 10 May 2008 into Cologne.

Those unofficially since 2005, officially however since 2006 tradition begun already brought many unimportant products out. Thus Habbos at birthdays, to the pastime in a recreational park, in the zoo met or simply to the Chillen. Exactly the same, we would like to naturally also have much fun as on these days.

Place of the conference remains naturally the soziale focus Cologne, with its with chewing rubbers zugekleisterten footpaths, its beschmierten fronts, in addition, with its noble business, historically valuable buildings and many friendly humans.

These are not however the reasons, which gave us cause to select Cologne as place of the conference. That is on the one hand because of the fact that Cologne is appropriate for an area withhigh population density and thus also a possible potenziell high portion of Habbo Usern relatively central in North-Rhine/Westphalia.

In order to address some words to, which would have to come away from further: It is really worthwhile itself!

The accurate date is 10 May 2008 present at 13 o'clock on a small piece Cologne (see appendix), consisting of a cosy Plaetzchen of trees and banks, in the proximity of the main entrance of Cologne cathedral.

Interest waked? You find information for the exact program as well as registration here.

Note: This meeting is organized neither by the Habbo hotel, nor by Habbo Times! HabboTimes offers only the user surface for the organization and the administration.

I wonder about your first sentence... I hoped Sulake already picked another fansite...

Anywayz, Germany doesn't have any Fansite Rules, that's why HabboTimes.de can post anything. And do anything. They must be véry good friends with Staff to organise stuff like that.

HabboTimes.de won the "Best Official Fansite" in the world at the Habbo Football Championships 2006 - so two and a bit years old now, but it's the only ever official "status giving" to a fansite.

This is pretty sad to be honest.

Germany has Fansite Rules, but they doesnt forbid that. Also HabboTimes doesnt organize this meet:

Dieses Treffen wird weder vom Habbo Hotel, noch von Habbo Times veranstaltet! Habbo Times bietet lediglich die Benutzeroberfläche für die Organisation und die Verwaltung.

This meet is not organized by Habbo Hotel or HabboTimes! HabboTimes gives just the user interface for planning.

Last Year a MOD came to the meet and the year before the first community manager of the German Habbo Hotel.

But the fact that Sulake doesn't do anything about it. You can't make exceptions when its about safety and privacy. And the fact that HT agrees with it.

Also the german habbo staff agree with it. Last year our Habbo X and a few staff members planned a meeting in frankfurt/main (The german office is there) but it never takes place because it was too far away from the Habbo X who really liked the idea.

HabboTimes also gives the advice not to meet up with friends from habbo alone who you've never met before. You should always go with a real friend or your parents! So it's safe enough, isn't it?

That is totally unbelievable.. it goes against everything Sulake have ever said and done about internet safety.. I'm really speechless...

If habbo are organising it, then I'm sure someone from habbo is going to be there as well to make sure things don't go wrong or whatever?

I didn't read the article because I couldn't be bothered so if it's been said that they won't - sorry

Well... Rules for fansites will differ between hotels and countries...

But that's unacceptable in my eyes...

It's not the responsibility of Habbo Hotel, Sulake or anyone affiliated to them so... It's risky. I bet there will be security on the door, but I don't see the idea as being overally bad? I think it's the 1-2-1 meetups which are the riskiest, however if you have mass groups meeting up then is there really going to be an incident?

By the sounds of their history, it's being going successfully for quite a while so whats the fuss. If something like that happened in the UK, I'd attend (given the permission from my parents). You can deem it as unacceptable if you want, and you can flame me all you like for being 'for' the meetup, but idc.

Not only that, but it's also a massive security risk - what's from stopping pedophiles and rapists from just turning up...

I can't help but note that there will probably be some adult protection there. It's not Sulake's problem so they can do it legally... Anyway, if this did happen in the UK and, obv ollie you would attend, who would want to rape THAT? >.>

The idea is not 'unbelievable'. Chill your jets, calm your engines.. If people want to meet other people from the Internet in this day and age they are more than able to. I remember when hobba's were encouraged to attend these sorts of events a couple of years ago and this is no different.

Personally I wouldn't want to meet up with people from the Internet because, frankly, it's weird. "Oooo We play Habbo!".

Sulake aren't kicking off a fuss because there isn't one.

And I'm sick and tired of kids kicking off huge fusses over little things on this forum because they are narrowminded and immature.

I'd go if it happened on UK, but the point is, how can Habbo and Sulake actually allow a fansite to publicise a big meetup?!

I'm not saying it's unbelieveable or that they can't...

I'm just saying that they shouldn't be allowed to organize one publically and nothing be done about it... :)

Today MrJames, owner of HabboTimes, asked the german community manager kawu again whether german fansites are permitted to publish meet ups. Kawu said he asked one from the Sulake HQ about it and this person allowed it.

Dont overdo it. Not everywone is a perv. The are the best official fansite of the world. That means something. Also the staff from der habbo de is a extremely clever guy. Believe me that site is official because the know what to do.

Not realy. Uk has other rules then the rest of europe. Uk has that alot. You dont have the euro, you drive on the wrong side of the road. So its not nice to call other fansites unacceptable. what the organise is there thing. Maybe its not save to meet people from the internet in the uk. But i believe that its rather save to meet people irl on germany holland french or whatever country, Not everywone is so small minded.

This is a big contradiction on sulakes part.

However, Sulake need to find ways forward in terms of marketing and advertising, and if allowing things like this to happen is their established route forward, so be it. At the end of the day, anyone who thinks Sulake cares more about safety than money, is kidding themselves.
