Why would you waste 70 quid on a case when you can just buy a standard one fitted with a fan for around 20-30? Parts look nice tho, I'm assuming you know how to fit them all?

The case provides a lot of cooling, which is needed for a system like this.

Unique Top mounted 200mm TriCool exhaust fan to cool the hottest system
Perforated front bezel for maximum air intake
The HDD cages act as air ducts to take air in more efficiently. Optional middle 120mm fan bracket to cool the hottest graphic cards or CPU
Two 120mm TriCool blue LED front fans to cool hard disk drives
Window side panel comes with an optional 120mm fan mount for maximum VGA coolingAdvanced cooling system:
- 1 top 200mm TriCool fan with 3-speed switch control
- 1 rear 120mm TriCool fan with 3-speed switch control
- 2 front 120mm special black TriCool blue LED fans with 3-speed switch control to cool HDDs
- 1 side (optional) 120mm fan to cool graphic cards
- 1 middle (optional) 120mm fan to cool CPU or graphic cards

How to fit what...? The fans are no problem, my dad is an electricain.

What do you mean by 'a few overkills' ?

Looks like decent choices. I'm assumuing you've already sorted out the graphics card as i don't see one in the list. For the RAM http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132904 has less latency and is slightly cheaper and I may even be tempted to get 4 x 1GB for even lower latency http://www.ebuyer.com/product/111439

Quad core isn't really needed unless you have like 4 videos encoding at the same time

OS? are you gonna use a free os or use windows?

DarrenToogood

Don't worry about the OS, thats all sorted :P

i supose your going to build your own os instead of using windows..right? or just get people to do it for you.. but that won't happen, like your "computer" idea won't happen as your a needy little girl

I was about to say, if you wanted to get good airflow miss that case out as it has no means of cable management but oh well.

DarrenToogood

The case has good cooling, so I am sticking with it. You can put like a sticky plastic hook to keep the wires together.

I was going to recommend the CM690:

1 Fan in the front to cool HDDs.
1 Fan at the side to cool GFX Card
1 Fan at the side to cool CPU
1 fan at the back to exhaust hot air
2 fans at the top to intake/exhaust air
1 fan behind the motherboard tray to cool back of motherboard.
You can buy yet another for the front to cool the motherboard.

Too late now, I have ordered it :P

Even though this one does not have as much fans as the one you have reccomended, its enough cooling for me in the places I need it most.

Hehe our systems will be VERY a like :P

O yes, they are :)

Did you build your own?

Yeh. built it on Christmas Day :D

What sort of problems did you encounter? One thing I am not looking forward to, is putting the processor on the mobo. How did you do it?

Stephen!
05-05-2008, 08:05 PM
You just lift the flap and drop it in :) *Not literally drop it*

I put the motherboard on top of its Anti static bag on top of the motherboard box, opened up the retainer (forgotten what its called) and what you don't want to do is touch the bottom. Just carefully pick it up with two fingers by the side and drop it in, MAKE SURE IT IS IN THE RIGHT WAY!! There should be an arrow making sure you put it in the right way.

While putting everything together, keep touching the case every couple of minutes to discharge you.

The Processor is the most worrying bit, £150 of hardware could be gone within seconds.

MAKE SURE IT IS IN THE RIGHT WAY!!

You'd have a job on your hands trying to get it in the wrong way though :P.

DarrenToogood
05-05-2008, 08:18 PM
Yeah, getting the mobo in is not the hard bit xD

Its the processor. Did you put the processor and RAM on the mobo before you put it into place?

Recursion
05-05-2008, 08:19 PM
Yeh, Its easiest that way :P

If your CPU Cooler is a pushpin one, they require a lot of force, I thought I was going to bloody snap the motherboard LOL

Yeah, it looks like he's using the stock Intel cooler. Once you think it's in i like to pick it up by the cooler and give it a shake lol. There should be no give in it and it shuld be a very firm fit.

I just picked it up by the cooler and shock it slightly OVER MY BED so if it did fall it wouldnt break LOL

I am not using the stock Intel heatsink/fan. I know it comes with it, however I am getting this:

That is supposed to be one of the best cheap coolers out there :P Gets temps nice and low, if I wasn't commited to putting all my money towards my birthday present I would buy it.

DarrenToogood
05-05-2008, 08:35 PM
This is my birthday present, so I selected the best of what I could for a reasonable price of £520.

I am not going to spend any money on this computer, yet...due to me buying a £650 D-SLR :P
