What have we gone and done this time! Find out all about it and then share your thoughts with us.
Another massive update hits Habbo and the crowd goes wild. Some out of joy (which of course is the reaction we're aiming for) and some out of horror. We get a lot of feedback about these updates, and often people question the reason(s) behind them. So for those of you who are interested, here are some answers from the developers.

When habbo first launched, the average screen resolution of the average internet user was 800x600. The size of the Habbo window was made accordingly. But times have changed and the average screen resolution has grown thus leaving good screen space all unused! So we jumped the hi-tech bandwagon and widened Habbo. It makes all the big public rooms look even more gorgeous and adds more screen space for our new shiny features!

The big issue with the console was that replying and holding multiple conversations with people was slow and required a lot of extra mouse clicking. Also the lack of a message history has been a nuisance for those of us who forget what the other person wrote half way through our reply.
So we thought: what better way to beat this, than to change the console messages to instant messages! We all use various instant messengers like MSN messenger or Google Talk during our time outside of Habbo, so why not just make things easier and bring them right into Habbo!
You might have also noticed that the console friend list has transformed into a more modern and easy to use friend list. You can now actually see a good bit of friends before having to scroll down. In addition, you can manage your friends into 5 different categories with the new friend management tool in your account settings.
So you might be wondering, "If console messages are replaced by instant messages, how do I communicate with the friends that aren't online just now?". Fret not, for we have an answer, *drum roll* behold...

Minimail is essentially what the console used to be, but on your personal page (so now you instantly see all your new messages as soon as you log in to the homepage!) and with a couple of cool new features.

Now that they've done that, and as much as it looks so sleek and modern, it's now the 'Habbo Look' which is being changed. Time to get worried, the navigator is next. I like the console features and the look of it however they've changed the whole feel so they've basically wrecked it. Chat is a nice idea, it was bound to come but... blah, we'll see.

they are changing habbo into a more modern game, if you compare the new furni compared to the likes of the old furni.

best example would be the new furni (arab?) compared to a samouva you can see the detail and quality has improved greatly.

compare the new jackets to a hoodie.

they are going for a more modern and sleek game so that it will keep up with the ever changing style.

Everyone got sick of Habbo in the old days and moaned about the lack of features and how it was the same boring, now they've changed the game ever so much, we all want to go back to the old days? I think this is just one of them Human things that we're never happy.

I must admit I used to always want updates, but now I just want to go back, I think that go's for a lot of people - The amount of times I've seen an IM suggested is ridiculous, but now we want rid of it.

I quit recently and I would of probably quit now anyway, you can't talk to people via console like you used too, it's becoming a more web-based game, that means you have to flick between windows and it's ever so irritating to just contact your whole list easily.

This is the ideal Habbo, people dreamed of this 2 years ago, but now it's awful. Just remember we asked for it and we got it :P

Meh, they're only graphics.

The new features look a lot more clean and like it or not, the new versions of Habbo will keep updating the old "classic" features to make the game fit with the new style of the web. ['web 2.0'].

I'm not really one for complaining about the updates (because usually they aren't that bad) but this one is horrible. I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon and say that for nothing either..

First of all the console.. you can't search people or do mass messages? Well that's lame. They ruined one of the easiest functions of Habbo and turned it into some crap, beat down, bootleg version of MSN.

The widescreen was an alright idea, if they made it bigger or something but all the rooms (guest rooms) are the exact same and now we have massive spaces of emptyness. Not to mention that at the bottom the icons are arranged in a crap fashion and it has a lot of empty space and it's just awkward.


The clothes I'm fine with.. everyone likes new clothes.

The mini mail thing wouldn't be so bad but it just leads into the same thing with the console, it's just a beat down version of something that already exists and isn't exactly necessary.

Of all the changes, I think that the worst is the console by far.

They should update in steps instead of like BAM all at once ¬¬

I don't mind it - less spam - but I can't spam as much.. more use for the events function!! :D Makes the events more worth-while.

Also I like the IM, its more personal, and will stop people from giving out messengers etc hopefully :)

I like parts of the updates. The bits I don't like are;
- The Icons not being spread out on hotel view.
- The speech bar being smaller, why not longer? (Even though the widescreen is a daft idea).
- The MiniMail is stupid off client, bring it onto the client and maybe it would be ok.

Overall, Its ok... Wait until the next update and its the nav. :P

Imo messenger is the only good thing that changed.

Maybe... I would vote yes because I like it. They had that old habbo console style for much too long imo.

I personally love the new update. Love the fact that I can't be spammed with room advertisments anymore. There is one fault that I would pick at though, and that's the minimail, we can't delete all mail at once and that's going to drive me mad having to click 'delete' etc, every time I get some mail.

I also don't like the idea that I can't view the groups I am a member of on the homepage, meaning that you have to drop your own widget on your homapage which is fairly irritating. The new console is going to take some getting used to also.

Like always, female users seem to come of better in the updates. Males get 2 new jackets that females can wear also, females get those 2 jackets + 3 other tops, a belt and a new skirt.
