Thought i'd post this because a lot of people are having trouble opening the Control Panel or seing icons in the Control Panel on Windows Vista :)

So here you go:

Icons are missing from Control Panel,
or you cannot start Control Panel, the Welcome
Center, or games in Windows Vista
Click Here! (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936686/en-us) To get HotFix

Hotfix info:

(929637) Error message during Windows
Vista startup if the Nero InCD program is
installed and if the "Special pool" feature is
enabled in the Driver Verifier utility: "Stop
00000050"
Click Here (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929637/) for more info

Hope this helps you if you have this problem

It's mainly cpl files that muck up control panel. Many users on this forum use sam broadcaster and the firebird in that creates a cpl file that can cause problems with control panel. All they have to do is go to system32 and remove the firebird.cpl file and it'll work fine.
