Q: Bring back the old console!
We're sorry that we took away something that you dearly loved and cherished without any warning. There were both technical and product reasons for this, and unfortunately it cannot be reverted. From what we have heard, your biggest disappointments are the missing mass message & invitation features and for this, we will improve the friend list and the instant messenger during next week. After the change you can again advertise your events, games and trading more easily, and invite all your friends to where you are in one go. In the future we will improve things even more, so be patient and wait and see what happens next.
In a nutshell:
Instant messenger is there for quick and easy live conversations with your friends no matter where they are in the Hotel. 'My Messages' (formerly Minimail) is for stylish messages with links for multiple recipients and to be used when messaging to your friends that are not in Habbo at the moment. It looks like you do like the instant messenger, in one day there has been over a million messages sent via IM :) And remember, you can now see who's online in one quick glance and also make your own groups within your friend list.
Q: But the new icons are blah and the call for help icon too small.
They have been mostly the same since the early days and we felt that it was time for a change. If it's difficult for you to make peace with these newbies, just imagine a group of nerds in an old castle trying to decide what an event icon should look like. How would you visualize an event?
And If you still want to get back to the good old days of big question marks, just take a look at the hotel view toolbar!
Q: And what about the bugs and all the hassle of being a pilot country? We want to live in peace and quiet!
There were some unfortunate bugs in this release, but we have been working on them all week and updates have been done yesterday and today. Thank you for your help with the bug reporting! You should also remember that you have a crucial role of testing and playing the release before other Habbos around the world. Every once in while is does pay off to get to see and try the new stuff first *wink*
Q: I can't use 'My Messages' (Minimail) or search in the client!
But on the other hand you don't have to open the client just to reply to a message! The search will get even more features than the old console search and web messaging is just at the beginning of it's journey. On the other hand, with web messages you can now store the messages you want to keep and also see the ones you have sent! And we have also increased the number of recipients for the messages. We have realized the problem some users have with bouncing between two windows and we'll keep that issue in mind for the future releases e.g. might also bring the improved search into client too.
Q: Wide is wide! Who needs more black space?
Imagine having the friend list and instant messenger open at the same time - they need space. Widescreen is convenient when you chat with your friends with IM and still want to keep up with chat happening in the room.
We do support low resolution users as they still get the old sized client, that's also the reason why rooms aren't bigger and icons are located just the way they are. (if you wish to see client the old way, you can try to set your screen size settings to 800x600 :))
