That is ridiculous.

You can send stuff like 'uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ILo1v6Y7IB4' which will appear but will not be clickable, the other person will have to c+p.

Its because of the new TV they have released. They are trying to crush the competition by stopping you spreading videos of youtube.

Grah why do Microsoft have to be ever so defensive and anti-competitive, Microsoft are so anti-competitive in all aspects of the company. You'd think their fine of around 500 million pounds from the EU would of made them clean up their act.

This is just dictating what we can say in messenger IMO, what will be banned next? Yahoo and Google?

Florx

I was getting that error all day, I thought it was my Adium causing it. You have to put just "youtube.com" without the http:// or www for it to even send the message on Adium. Don't know about other messengers.

If you read the whole thread you would of seen it was been affecting many people in the country etc etc. But looking at it, the ban is not in affect anymore. Meaning you can now send the direct youtube videos.

Florx

Correct, it seems the ban has been either removed or changed.

So are many companies, Apple for instance is a bigger anti-competitor company, you hear see it all the time in Tech. news sites :P

Bit stupid though, Microsoft's video site will not be as popular as YouTube, whether they make the links work or not...

EDIT: Just read a few updates, I stick by what I said though :P

Hurray! The filter on YouTube links has been removed in less than 24 hours after it was first noticed. The speed of Microsoft's response to the situation makes it seem unlikely that the ban was an intentional "attack".

Messer Yun brought to our attention though that another Google-owned domain, googlepages.com, is (still) being blocked. And so are many other generally trustworthy websites.
