I only really use it for habbo/runescape/online games/download games/CD games/ Well Gaming :P
Also it would need to have a fair bit of memory, and kinda fast :D
Any models/makes of pcs aswell. Windows Xp or vista dont really mind.
Just wondering if anyone can find me some pcs, and link me to some sites.
I dont think im gunna build my own as i dont have a clue about building pc's.
Thanks for any help

Well it would have to be windows XP. You couldn't run Vista nicley on a £300 machine. I would recommend you go looking in PCworld if you have one near you. They don't rip you off so much on some of the cheaper machines.
Are you getting a new monitor or sticking with the one you have now? That would take £100 off the 300 which would leave you with 200 for the actual machine.

Mesh do somedecent deals. For 300 you might not be able to get a system which can run some of the newer 'CD games'

Is the £299 worth buying ?
Looks cheapest on there.
Also it will need a monitor with it, mines the size of a portable tv & its all scratched.

The dell is better apart from the GFX card.

Well if i get any extra money from other family members how much would a goodish/cheap GFX card cost,
Also is GFX - Graphics?
Whould the dell pc be compatiable with a GFX card i put in myself?
Yes, GfX is graphics. Your best bet would be going with the Dell and spending around £50 on a graphics card like this. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139051

Yh i might just do that,
What kind of games would that graphics card be best for?
Also is it easy to take old one out and put a new one in?
&&& :P
Would the graphics card & games run quick with the dell processor and everthing?

Well it doesn't technically come with one. It's got an Integrated graphics card meaning it's built into the motherboard that;s already there. The new one would fit into the empty PCI-E slot (graphics card slot) and the integrated one should disable itself. You then need to plug the cable that leads to your monitor into the socket on the new graphics card. Turn the computer on and install the disc that came with the card - you must do this!
Now this may be stretching it a little but it may help if you had 2GB RAM rather than 1GB, you can do this by choosing the customization option on the Dell website. It will increase the price by £20.
I think with the dell adding the monitor means more money??
Not too sure though!
The £300 includes a monitor.

Thanks for all the help,
Ill try and beg my dad for more money :D
Yeh, silly question really but.. do you need a monitor? Because on dell if you take that off, it reduces it by about £110. :D:D

You'd be better of just trying to upgrade or build your own with such as small budget. If you do a bit of research you can get some great deals especially if you have some local dealers. They can sometimes fling in extra parts for free. For instance when I was upgrading my monitor on my old computer I got a free wireless mouse flung into the deal, all you have to do is ask.
-Jaydee-
11-05-2008, 12:11 PM
Well i cant really upgrade my current pc, because it about 6yrs old and i have no idea where we got it from.
Also i have no idea what so ever on building a computer.
Yeh, i agree if your going to be paying weekly, monthly then Dell is your best bet. Also at the moment Dell have a Buy Now, start Paying in August, so this may persuade your dad to let you spend a bit more knowing he wont have to start paying for it till August :P
Typical APR is 19.9% on Dell, i think :D

There's an awful lot of TBC on that specifications list...
I'd recommend trying out www.jal.co.uk (http://www.jal.co.uk)
Their website is crap but their computers are pretty good.
-Jaydee-

If i was you I would buy a machine from overclockers.co.uk as they now allow monthly payments http://www.overclockers.co.uk/financefaq.php and other forms.
-Jaydee-
13-05-2008, 12:26 PM
it can only be from comet or currys.
There really isn't anything decent for what you're after in your price range in any of the two shops. Is there no computer shops near you that you could buy from? For instance www.aria.co.uk is near me.

If I was you and I had 500, get a job or w.e save up i think its.. 600-700 for a low-end iMac, the entry level refurb ones are good enough. or use your educational discount.
