i think i made a thread like this a while back, but i think its still valid in stuff.
i just recently discovered the absolute brilliance of pavement. ive listened to their albums multiple times before, but for some reason i just now hear how amazing they are. and the lyrics are so great and witty and fun. i just can't stop listening to all of crooked rain, crooked rain. it's amazing. slanted and enchanted is okay, but damn. fillmore jive, gold soundz, unfair are all epic.
anyway, you know the drill.

Glad to hear it! It's fair to say they've put a lot of effort into the lyrics on their album, definitely one of the best albums I've downloaded this year.
Oh, and I can be sure now, when I get Matrix and Futurebound's album, I will be listening to that a LOT!
The Kooks, Lucianna, Billie Piper ;o haha :D

they did
but simon was in a new band called show your stripes, who lost a singer and so nst reformed. i'm pretty sure once show your stripes find a guitarist they'll still be going too.

I'm sort of finding The Ting Tings quite fun to listen too. I also downloaded Weezer's Green Album for a bit of older rock and am enjoying it on my crappy iPod Shuffle while I wait to get a new iPod.

there's a little indie band from london called 'let's wrestle' who say that pavement are their biggest influence for their lyrics (which are pretty silly really!)

they're quite amazing, i highly recommend the album "crooked rain, crooked rain" before anything else, it's definitely their most accessible. and my favorite. los campesinos! always talk about how much they love pavement. even though they weren't that popular when they were around they're now probably one of the most influential bands ever.
and yeah, lyrics in pavement songs are amazing. they're usually really witty or funny, and a lot of times make you think. but he sings them like they're nothing. best pavement line ever has to be in the song "gold soundz" after the instrumental part when he says "you're the kind of girl i like because you're empty, and i'm empty."
