Following the successful opening weekend for Iron Man, Marvel's first self-financed superhero movie, the comic book company has confirmed plans for the next three years.
The knock-on effect of the Writers Guild of America strike earlier this year means that there won't be a Marvel movie in 2009, but Iron Man 2 will arrive on April 30th, 2010. Six weeks later the Norse God Thor will make his big screen debut in a new movie from Stardust's Matthew Vaughn.
2011 will see Captain America: The First Avenger launch the summer season on May 6th with the much-rumoured team-up The Avengers opening in July, featuring Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America and Thor in a script from Zak Penn.
No date has been scheduled yet for Ant-Man, to be directed by Edgar Wright.
