Heya
For our 'Audience Performance' GCSE mark in Drama, i have to perform a section form bouncers.
Bouncers is a play about 4 (never!) bouncers. In the play they try chatting up 4 girls, played by the same actor as the bouncer (One actor = 2 roles)
Well heres my problem
I have to perform as the first woman on stage, and ive got to act like a woman, campy etc
But for some reason i just cant do it. I can act camp etc, but i really HATE doing it
I performed in front of the class (25 students 2 teachers) and they thought it was hillarious, and it worked
But i have got a real problem with doing it infront of an audience of 200 people, (btw the audience is year 9's, and their parents, its so they undertsand what GCSE drama is)

Any tips? (Apart from the usual 'Imagine the audience in thier underwear blah blah'
+ Rep

OOOH, BTW THE PERFORMANCE IS ONLY 6 MINUTES LONG, AND IM ONLY A GIRL FOR ABOUT 3MINS

Just try it. And dont think about the people watching you. This is your GCSE, Think about that. If Anybody takes the mick. Just say well i got graded for it. they will understand.

Inseriousity.

You've already shown to people you can do it. You're just nervous of doing it wrong when you've already done it right.

Just perform it like you did for the 27 people and you should be alright... The older you are the harder it is to impress so if they liked it, the younger students of year 9 should like it.

I had to act as a very posh women who had very dirty (and i mean dirty) secrets. It was very embarrassing, but I got a B.
I say just try, I'm sure you'll be great.
Plus, with lighting you can't even see the audience.
Good luck. :)

Ive already done bouncers for my AS peice and bascially if you want a good mark you just have to go for it.

If you look uncomfortable and only half-do it then the audience will cringe for you.

If you just go out and do it for the (from doing this scene a gazilion times about 5 mins) and give it all you got then everyone will laugh.

If your worried about image problems then dont forget, theres 3 others doing the same thing... at the end of mine everyone just told us it was brilliant and it was just like what girls do etc.

Just go for it!!

I'm aware of that. The scene in which they play 2 girls flirting with 2 guys is about 5 mins long.

You hate doing it?
Homophobe, lol.
It's called acting... Everyone obviously knows that you'll be in role.
If you can't get yourself to do it, don't. Quit. You can't act.

People in my year did Bouncers. Theirs went absolutely great.
You're woman #1? Well then that's definately lucky for you, as #3 is obviously the hardest to act with a straight face.

They played the four bouncers, the four drunks and the four women scenes.
They are great at Drama, A's and maybe one or two A*'s for them.

Anyway, shouldn't you be doing 5 minutes per person in your group? :S
So 4x5=20 mins.

thats at gcse level, and it's only really a recomendation
our group did about 32-35 mins with 5 people at gcse.

and i get nervous all the time before i have to do something embarassing on stage, but once you pretend to be someone else i just pretend that the person im portraying isn't afraid of an audience or that the audience doesn't exist. much easier (H)

My group did 10-15 minutes last month, was very good though there was 3 of us. But we were all on stage all of the time.
