if i attached my ethernet cable from my xbox to my pc (which has the internet working), would the internet work on the xbox?

Yeah that would work fine, you would however have to bridge the connections though so the internet would work on Xbox live.

Damnit I couldn't get it to work when I tried, but I have one of the XBOX 360 wireless adapter things, which is great :)

lol I managed to scab it as a chrimbo treat from my grandparents... but if you can't afford it then you are definately going for the right option...
