Takes 5 billion years to get there
Has a simular temprature to earth
Surface is made from rocks and water

Interesting.

I heard about this, I think it's a severe possibility. With the rate technology is going and IF this LHC thingie does deliver the goods, space travel of that magnitude could prove possible...

With the rate technology is going and IF this LHC thingie does deliver the goods, space travel of that magnitude could prove possible...Indeed, if we can travel in time (Damn it sounds like I'm on about a tardis) then that's our only hope we ever have of even getting near 'aliens'.

tbh until time travel is possible, these regular 'Earth like planets' finds are worthless, almost every 2 months they find a new planet so many billion years away which resembles the Earth's landscape and temperature. So what if it's like Earth? All we can do till time travel is possible is stare at it through a telescope, these planet finds are useless and tedious in my opinion :P

can a human get there?

time travel is traveling through time, we need to travel through space.

no, unless you have a time machine like jordy said.

It would just be good to just know that their is other life out their. If there is, we can communicate with them somehow.

You all do know that you need the exact ammount of everything to create a planet like ours.

Earth was made so perfectly and is incredibly unlikely that there will be another one,

its all a load of rubbish

its an animation
there is no pictures
theres no evidence its all part of a big conspiracy that is going to present itself soon

the thing that really amazes me is that many people think including scientists that we need it to be exactly like earth and has to contain oxygen jkust because our planet does. Weve adapted to our conditions and so it doesnt amke sense why their cant be life on a planet with liquid nitrogen or whatever (including an animal that could survive on hydrogen).

yeah how do you not now
that something could be living on any planet with some sort of oxygen nytrogen etc.

hes trying to be the top poster of the week :P

still, its an interesting find as it is the closest they have come to a life like planet

very old

and its not in the HZ anymore

humans don't live for 5 billion years ;)
and no ones ever seen the planet it's just speculation x)

can a human get there?

Sure we do!
aha and how do they know the temp is similar?

Not like they have probes is it?

I beleive that after the planet passes their sun it makes an eclipse and you can measure how far away it is from the sun and by the amount of light given of and the way the amount of light fluctuates it can determine the surface area of the sun and then the planet =].

well, if scientists saw it, and its that far away, i probaly gurantee its already blown up or somin because of light travelling there takes so long, we're seeing it from ages ago.

Yeah alot of the stars we can just about see have probably gone out.

God, 5 billion years to get there. I mean, us, humans, are so insignificant and we can do so many amazing things like this!!
Thinks about a century ago (not long in technology terms) things were basic, and now look. Good find (meaning video and planet :P)

Although being a planet with water, and if so with life. Its no use to us. Its impossible to develop something to go that fast.

Its only benificle to the humans if they are still here in 5 billion years.

-Xiangu-
15-05-2008, 06:38 PM
About the same amount of time that the sun has left to live :P.

Lmao thats also a good tip. Lets all go buy a packet of match's and set mars alight!!!

We build a ladder out of planks lolll

Wow seems interesting, anyway who says for there to be life in outer space their have to be water? They could be adapted into living in severe conditions and well even breathing in gases which will do the same use as food/water. Scientists don't really ever think out of the box anymore.

so if u need a time machine how did they get there to see what it's like..
omg, i'm having a total blonde day..

k myb they just used a telescope or something.
OMGG! stupid.

OMGG! stupid.probs a highly powerful telescope which shows the planet of how it was AGES ago because it is so far and takes light a long time to travel there, so it would show it from quite a few years ago :P, so right now, it could seem perfectly normal to us, but its really blown up.
