I coded my portfolio layout, and I would like everyone to test it out and post any problems. Feel free to rate it as well.

Oh God, that's extremely good, I can't find any errors however.

I love the idea of the arrows you made which will soon be a option to go back and forth? Love it. ;)

It's not my idea, it's actually used on Panic's (www.panic.com) site; which is where I got the idea from.

Oh right, still a great feature to have. :)

That's why I included them, they're brilliant.

You forgot all the SEO friendly meta tags and your layout has some issues w/ PNG transparency. Remember that more than 20% of the web still uses IE6 or a lesser version ;)

Anyways your layouts looks okay but it's a bit blah. Try adding something to spice it up maybe?

I LIKE IT.. BUT YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE LINKS INTO BUTTON IMAGES. OTHERWISE PEOPLE WONT FIND THEM.

Hmmm, I'm not sure. The colours would work well together if you added in a blue otherwise it seems flat. Also like I said earlier change the arrows as those are free brush ones which just look awful.

Good to implement the content slider, however I don't see the use for it if you are just going to use for text. Much better for showcasing work.

Also ignore Scriptz complaining about PNG transparency and how it doesn't work in IE6 or lower. No good developer works for IE6 or lower anymore. Just take a look at VIRB :)

Thanks Greg. I will be ditching the arrows all together later on tonight. Also for a blue-ish colour: I could make the background image a blue instead of a green.

When you click an arrow you get HREF things,

Outlines...

That can be removed by putting;

outline: none;
into your CSS.

I have gotten rid of the arrows completely, I am going to see what I cna do about adding blue to it later on.

@Olleh - I know you do.

Looks alot better without the arrows. Also I'm pretty sure if you added blue in there it would look a mess. I suggest some light grays.

I will be experimenting with different colours later on tonight. I will post my findings.

There is also an issue with your background image;

Yeah I noticed that, you need to have it repeating or make one big whole image due to screen res's.

Hi.

I've been kind enough to outline everything I don't like about your website as it is bland and boring.

Thanks.

Such dedication o_O

- I like the concept of it, but not the finish, the background image seems like off one of those old websites, which everyone dispises. I like the idea of the latest work & client bit, the idea with the slider, is a good idea but you need to focus on one thing, colour and how you can make it more userfriendly, and somewhat more "interactive" with the user.

Who is john doe?

It's either fake, or he has clients with names that are laughable.

I choose option one as he cannot design.

Who is john doe?
John Doe is a name used in places such as hospitals when they don't know the person's name. Basically giving an identity to an unknown figure. So I take it he's just filling the space it's not a real testimonial.

Greg is correct. Thanks for the comments everyone. I am going to be making the background image larger so it fits. Greg what is your screen resolution?

NEW-START you're acting quite immature. Instead of telling me the layout is bad, you have to be a funny boy and impress all the kiddies here and outline my whole layout saying it's bad. I have no problem with you telling me it's bad, I expected it from some people; if you're going to be immature about it leave my thread.

In America John/Jon Doe is a fake name for anything, on fake credit cards/demo things where it is illegal to post real names.

It also is used as a placement name on an unknown individual, ex: He is a John Doe.

Females are Jane Doe.

I always use Joe Bloggs as it is a name that sounds like someone is sitting on a toilet excrementing extensively.
