I think I read that the UK is second for internet speeds/technological advancements.

Are you meaning Mbps or MB/s there's a big difference.

I think I read that the UK is second for internet speeds/technological advancements.

America, Canada and a lot of Europe are ahead of his as far as internet is concerned. So are Japan.

Japan is the most obvious one :)

The UK is slowly falling behind with internet speeds, they are definitely not second. There was a report posted on the BBC news site, I think, about how the UK is one of the slowest countries for average internet speed.

Also, I agree, my torrents always hang around 0.5kb/s - 5 kb/s but I get the rare one that shoots to about 400kb/s. :@

Shoudn't make much difference. There will be less users, but there will be less equipment and less capacity so the contention should be similar.

It could make a difference, just a bit faster because not much people using and mainly old people I pressume?

Well there is going to be less telephone exchanges about meaning you are more likely to be connecting to an exchange at a further distance, reducing your stream speed so it's going to even out. I see what you mean with the old people one though :P.

Yeah lol, not much people will be on. So you could get a slight faster speed.

Yes, i reckon it's a slight faster speed. Not because of less people as the contention will be pretty much equivalent, trust me. Rather because of the users that are actually there ie. more OAPs lol.

The exchange is about a mile away, and a slight increase? Looking at all of your speeds it seems like my speeds are a fair amount higher than the ones people are posting.

It depends on the ISP. I'm talking about comparing the same ISP.
