sohcahtoa is easy, aswell as pythagoras.

i can't do sine/cosine rule to save my life.

looking through the paper now and i can't remember how to factorise, omgggggg.

oh and i can't do circle theorems either. OOPS.

Tristan
18-05-2008, 01:57 PM
Think I'm AQA.
I would be disappointed with a C.
Should get a B.
If I get an A that would be well good.
My exam starts 8:55.

got mine tomorrow as well, its non calculator with edexcel at 9am then calculator is on 2nd june at 2pm. i need to revise graphs and surds cos i can never do them. oh yeah and vectors.:(:(:(:(:(:(

Immenseman
18-05-2008, 02:00 PM
I think i'd happily take a C at the moment tbh.

I got A and A* in the other exams but I'm still dreading this one.

Same. lol.

This is the biggest exam out of the ones we done in maths. I ain't looking forward to it especially the quadratic simultaneous equations.

I am worried if i do bad on this one, then it will make my overall grade lower. Not sure :S

Mines starts at 8.30am, well thats what it says on my timetable.

mangle
18-05-2008, 02:04 PM
I want a B. I'd be happy with that.

18-05-2008, 04:07 PM
I've also got my maths papers tomorrow. Need 54% to get an A overall. And 92% for an A* overall (Because I've done previous module tests).

A should be ok, A* is out of my range. Cosine -> *** :)

Throne Sofa
18-05-2008, 05:52 PM
I've got it tomorrow, I do foundation and I hope to get 90% in it. Non calc tomos.

well mine went crap, i couldn't do hardly anything after question 18.

mangle
19-05-2008, 03:17 PM
It was alright, turned to front page and almost cried LOL

Tristan
19-05-2008, 03:29 PM
lol.
I was a bit surprised at the front page. Didn't think I could do it, then looked at it for a minute then realised what was needed. :P

Mine went pretty good.
I think I could get a B on that paper but maybe not. But I'm pretty confident with a B on that paper.
What on earth @ the q like... Explain why: x2 - x - 5 = 0 makes x = 2.8 or something!
In the end, I don't think there was any sine or cosine, lol... I like sine rule. :(
Didn't do quadratic equations either, I don't think. :( I'm good at that.
It did get really quite hard at the end. :P

mangle
19-05-2008, 03:30 PM
That question with 2.8 was SO easy.

All you had to say was, look across on the graph, at the 0 line the graph interesects it at 2.8!

Inseriousity.
19-05-2008, 03:44 PM
Thought the maths one was easier than I expected. The past papers were definitely harder than that!

There was that darn 7 mark question with the 'work out the mass' of the two cubes and the pyramid and I was like '***?' so yeah, I lost 7 marks minimum. I did try it though! :P

Tristan
19-05-2008, 03:46 PM
o...
lol.
I was looking at it and I was like, it's on the 0. What do I say? How can I explain the answer? Lol.

mangle
19-05-2008, 03:48 PM
LOL
I only got it cos in my mock I flopped a question like that.

I did the "Higher Linear EDEXL" maths paper (1hr 45m) and it was pretty easy untill question 22 - 27? I sort of knew which questions I got right and I think I got 82/100 in total. But thats only the ones I know I did get. Does anyone know the grade boundaries? ;o

EDIT :

Checked on some forums these are quotes :

i think it's about 30% for a C, 45% for a B, 65% for an A and 80%/85% for an A*. That's that i was told.

i think for our maths exam in november the grade boudaries for higher were:
~82% A*
~75% (?) A

we've been told around 85% is A* but personally i reckon it might be a bit higher, since the exam is supposedly "easier"but for higher

its 30~ marks for C
and over 40 probably B

iknowkungfu
19-05-2008, 03:52 PM
apparently it's like 25 marks for a c? ;s that's aqa though.

mangle
19-05-2008, 03:53 PM
It's 34 I think. 50 for a B and idno the rest.

Axel
19-05-2008, 04:00 PM
That was EASY! The only questions I found hard was finding y in that circle triangle thingy, what the theorem was called, and the next question. The last two questions were a free 13 marks.

mangle
19-05-2008, 04:01 PM
Circle theorem was easy.

It was 75, opposite angles add up to 180. Other one was 105 so it had to be 75.

Axel
19-05-2008, 04:04 PM
Well I didn't work out the other one was 105 so yeee. I knew x was 94. And I didn't know the name of the equation.

I think I've lost 9 marks already from those questions, but the rest were damn easy. The mass of the cubes and pyramid was just an easy 7 marks... it was simple equations but it just took along time.

But I think we were taking different exams Pooj... I didn't get any graphs, just 'draw the plan of this shape'. That was like foundation.

Bevvie
19-05-2008, 04:11 PM
O i failed that then. loool. Did bad on the Circle Theorem.
And mucked up on the Major Arc one, i didn't revise for that so i guessed it. Oh and to make x the subject, forgot how to do that. aha.

Same Axel.

Inseriousity.
19-05-2008, 04:12 PM
I got the circle theorem one. I got 94 for x and couldn't work out y lmao but I put alternate segment for the circle theorem because that's the only one I know :P

Plank
19-05-2008, 04:17 PM
The grade boundaries aren't decided until all the papers have been marked, because they change depending on how everyone that took the paper performed. So if lots of people found it easy and got high marks, the grade boundaries will be higher and vice versa.

Yeah but there has never been a real dramatic change, it's around the same sort of marks.

Yep same, got 94 for x then spent about 5 minutes trying to get y and just.. couldn't.

Trayan
20-05-2008, 06:54 AM
I did mine yesterday , however i found it very easy .. The only thing i spent ages doing was finding the perimeter of that shape with 2 semi curcles and a rectangle in the middle.

20-05-2008, 11:03 AM
Ooh, so everyone is doing Quadratics and Trigonmetry? We're doing that now and our exam is um next friday, it's easyyyyy apart from 3D trig which is a pain.
