Is it any good, and is it worth buying?
(You can also discuss the film here) ;)

I've heard the story of the 300 Spartans in Classical Greek (a subject in my school) and i found it quite intresting and full of violence. Mmm violence. However, i thought that i would get the Habbox community to say whether its good or not.

I liked the film, but the plot/story didn't really do it for me. It was very simple and easy to follow. It almost felt like the whole film was just one giant war or some next level advertisement. I think I remember someone saying in the last 300 thread that they expected one of the characters to get a bottle of Coca Cola out and shout 'THIS IS COKE!' any minute. I wouldn't have been surprised if that did happen. :P I liked the characters, and thought the acting was superb. The fights senes were very good, although the sudden slow motion got on my nerves after a while. Aslo, I just have to mention the quotes. 300 is like film quote mania. There are so many memorable quotes as you may already know. :P They made the film even better for me. Hearing 'THIS IS SPARTA!' in the actual film was a great laugh after seeing it all over the internet. I also think the film also has quite a unique style, it's not your ordinary historic war-ish film. It looks great. So, while I think the film lacks in a few areas, I would still definitely recommend it. It was a very enjoyable film. 7.5/10 from me. :)

It was an enjoyable film, but the stylised violence was overused in too much of the same way for my taste, comparing if you like, to Sin City, which 300 was aspiring to be similar to as a Frank Miller adaptation, but its "father" had very unique stylisation.

Well, Frank Miller had an input on it, as he done the graphic novel.
As Misawa said, it aspires to recreate the same level of gore as did Sin City.

It was to to keep realism, but also add that "over the top" level to it.
The fights were enjoyable and as Chris said, the slow motion was pretty annoying after a while.

It's worth to watch, and a purchase. It's overrated slightly, but a decent film.
