I was considering to get a dog.
All I need to know is which ones are friendly with cats since I have a cat too.
+Rep for good finds/answers.

I have a Springer-doore, Labarador/Sringer Spaniel.
He is very good with out cat.
Yeah, they have play fights, but the cat always wins :P
I'd defiently go with a Labrador, or a Springer Spaniel.
Any spaniels are good, or Lab cross breeds.

You can often find out what dog is good with cats by asking at the animal shelter you are going to. There might be a dog what was brought up with a cat etc. How do you know your cat will get along with the dog though? Have you had a dog before?

Yes, I had indeed and the cat and dog did not get along.

I'm no animal expert but from past experience it depends on that specific dog. For example one labrador could be really nice to cats and get on really well. However, another labrador might chase/attack cats. When you're looking for a dog the easiest thing would be to see if it had any cats in it's last home. If you get it as a puppy then it should be okay growing up with the cat. My dog is actually terrified of my cat and we have to try and keep them seperate because she'll go for him and win every time :P

Labradors, spaniels and shelties are ones I know that get on with cats, and Jack Russells too I think?
All dogs are different. My border collies are great with my cats but my mates border wants to rip any cat it sees apart.
If you bring in a puppy with cats then its usually fine.
With older dogs it just depends on there experiences. If theyve never been around cats then they might not be very good.
Usually at dogs homes they will be able to tell you which dogs have come from homes with cats and will be ok and which ones there not sure about.
iv never bought an adult dogs as iv always had them from pups but when i got my cats from the cats home they had these little info sheets saying they were good with dogs and other cats and traffic and stuff.

you cant judge a dog's personaility based on their breed, well for the most part. all dogs are different.
