The chat is never used, because it isnt embeded into the forum. I think you should use this chat, http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=168992 cos it can be embeded and more people would use it.

They've just paid a lot of money for the license for it so I doubt they will change it, and the other one was apparently a security threat.

Embedding it would be useless on a huge forum, no-one would see your post and you wouldn't see replies to your post. It was a bit pointless getting a chat though which won't be used alot...

Is it on the index page or on a seperate page? On the index page it is pointless, as I stated, plus it would be a waste of space and may cause lag.

Its on the index page. It wouldnt be a wased of space, there is no limit to the amount of space a website can be (http://worlds-highest-website.com/ is 18km high lol). And how would it cause lag, listening to habbox radio would cause more lag and no one has a problem with that. :)

No one uses that chat lol

The only lag that would be caused (in terms of loading a page) would be loading the flash file which would probably add an extra 0.3 seconds to the loading time

lol... here we go... I just said my view... gosh, lol...

Anyways it isn't my choice, upto the person that updates the forum.

I do agree with what is said about it as I think it will make it more popular...
but reasons why I disagree at some things is:

Loading...
if people swear, it will be more noticeable...
some may say, it is hard to have an convo if people keep posting at same time.

It would be a waste of space on the index page when no-one uses it and if they do your post would be be gone within seconds because the amount of users using it will mean when you post, 10 other people will so the chances of them seeing it and the chances of you understand if anyone has read it will be low.

Plus I stand corrected with the lag bit :P

Thanks, I totally agree, it would be like

hi what was the school in the match today?

2 seconds later, waiting for a reply...

People will probz keep repeating themselves, so others can see what they say... etc...

I did it on purpose, I learnt from a certain staff... :) ;)
To ignore people wanting arguments...

On topic: Is any people that have a major role on this forum, can confirm will this happen or not :o?

No. The chat system itself may lag, but it will not lag the loading of pages because of the embedded html object. The flash file will most probably connect to the flash server during the body's onload but as it's in the embed tag, the page won't wait for the flash file to load before it continues to load the rest of the page.

So basically, no, it won't lag the forum.

I think it would be frequently used.

I have already planned on doing this a while ago (and a few other things) but got distracted with exams. If I have enough time to do it in the next few days, I'll sort it out.

I like this idea - I certainly would use it a lot! The chat atm doesn't get used.
