This monitor any good?

Hello,

I need a monitor with VGA and DVI for my PC and 360, needs to be easily switchable.

according to reviews and people on OCN Hanns.G are great for their price, so I figured if its any good I may aswell go for it?

Anyone confirm 22" widescreen is the same HEIGHT as 19" standard screen?

contrast ratio is like how detailed the black is, or each colour is.

Also I would think the height would be slightly more if the screen size is 16:10, to keep the same ratio blah blah blah. I hate talking sizes.

Another good one to try if you can find it stocked is a Belinea 22". Might be cheaper than that but everything else is the same. I have one, brilliant monitor for the price =)

My 22"'s contrast ratio is 700:1, 170/160 wide view angle.

Contrast ratio is the difference between the brightest white and darkest black. ie 1000:1 ratio means the white is 1000 times brighter than the white, but there's things like static contrast ratio and dynamic contrast ratio static better as a higher dynamic is easier to achieve. The brightness isn't particularly good on that monitor but it'd do.

The most important thing when buying a monitor is the type of panel (the actual screen) they use. This is often over looked. Most cheap monitors with high reponse times use a cheap, low quality TN panel.

This can be tested by changing your viewing angle of the monitor (move up and down); if you can see the image on the screen change in contrast (ie, it gets darker when you view it from low down) it is a TN panel. TN panels also have a lower colour gamut.

Dell and a few other manufacturers use higher quality PVA panels in their displays, which display more colours and viewing angle does not greatly affect picture. Apple Cinema Displays use S-IPS, which is the highest quality panel available.

I wouldn't bother too much about getting a monitor with DVI and VGA. You could probably find a cheaper and a better monitor with just a single VGA Port and then get a decent VGA Splitter.
