[CSS] Double Border

I'm trying to code a layout to be used with Joomla, and the way the template was designed it has a double border in the main content boxes, and I originally coded it so it had 2 divs, one for the inside border what is white and this also does the background of the box, text and so on and then another div around this one what would be the outer border and this worked fine but when I come to Joomla I can only use one class for the content boxes,(because of the way Joomla is) as "outline" doesn't work for IE is there any other way I could have 2 different coloured border lines without using more then one div?

Failing this can I edit Joomla so I can use more then one div for the main content and modules?
