OK I have a major problem, when I switch on my laptop I get a log on screen which is fine but when I enter my password I get the message:

"The Group Policy Client service failed the logon.

Access is denied."

Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how I can fix it?? I would be incredibly grateful for any help!

Can you not get onto the desktop at all?
Did you have a valid copy of your OS?

Nope, no access to desktop. Sorry I'm a bit lost now...OS? The laptop was bought in December brand new from *grimace* Tesco so nothing should be wrong with software/hardware.

OS = operating system = xp, vista etc

But I'm guessing the os came with your computer as I don't think someone who doesn't know what os means would be able to install an os (no offense lol)

None taken, yes it is an official, original copy of Vista. Any ideas how I can resolve the problem without the use of a tech guy?

Afraid the only thing i can think of is reformat your laptop (which requires you to re-install the operating system) or phone / go see a techie.

press start, in search field search "System Restore" (without quotes)

click it and see if you can restore to a couple of days back before it started doing it

Oops I meant disc not desktop way lmao sorry

When you first run your computer it normally tells you to make a recovery disc so use the disc and it should let you restore to a previous day (thats if you could be bothered to make a recovery disc)

and btw shes a she I think :P

Try getting in via safe mode. As soon as you turn on your PC, keep tapping F5 or F8 (varies from computer to computer), and select safe mode.

If you can get in, back up your important stuff. Then try restore it to the previous day when it worked.

Thanks guys but system restore nor safe mode work. I shall call tech support in the morning and if they can't help I'll have to get it sent away. I hope they can back up all my files or I'm snookered! And yes, I'm a she, lmao!! :P

I've looked all over google for about 30 minutes and it looks like microsoft don't even know how to fix this yet :/

Are you saying when you try to get into safe mode, you can't by pressing f8 or whatever or are you saying that you are getting that error when your trying to log in on safemode? if your saying f8 or f5 doesn't work try pressing the power button on your computer to shutdown as when you boot up again you'll get a message saying windows shutdown unexpectedly and it will give you an option to go into safe mode

(don't press power button after you've finished with your computer all the time though or it messes your computer lol)

But as I say that I don't think microsoft know how to fix this I mean that people haven't been able to get into their account on safemode

When I try to log in through safe mode it says "please wait" and then "logging out" rather than giving me the error message I normally get. Tried a repair through F8 as well, nothing seems to be working at all!
