View Full Version : IDEA: Habbox 'Rooms'

Hello :)

I've been thinking for quite a while now about this idea, and I'd like to explain it to you now.

For this idea to work, there needs to be a relationship between management and Habbox users. Ultimately, a great relationship. I propose that Habbox add a new department, known as the 'Habbox Room Department'.

What are 'Habbox Rooms'? Habbox Rooms are rooms on Habbo Hotel (or rooms linking together to make a city for example.) which are sponsored by Habbox or 'ran' by Habbox, except they are made by ordinary Habbo members. There would be a couple of rooms sponsored per fortnight/month. Competitions would run in these rooms and events could be held. There could be DJ rooms for HabboxLive made, which would increase the number of listeners. The potential is massive.

The department would consist of a team of 5-10 forum members (who must use Habbo), an assistant manager and a manager. The managers would post announcements, work with the rooms owners to help make the room as successful and 'cool' looking as possible. They would also approve rooms. Once the rooms were approved they would be inspected by the Habbox Room staff (not managers) and go on trial for 1-5 days. Through these three days the staff of Habbox Rooms would have to visit the room and (if linked with other rooms) check all teleporters are working, make sure the room is good enough to be a 'Habbox Room' and make sure the room is appealing. Depending on how big the room is, or how many rooms there are (for example if someone were to make a city) would be how long they would go on trial.

Once passed the trial, they would be added to a waiting list of already passed rooms. New rooms would be added weekly and the rooms would have to be checked daily to ensure the rooms stay popular and are still there (or haven't been trashed). Once a room fails to meet the standards they met through the trial, they would be removed from the list and if the owner wishes their room to become a Habbox room, they would need to re-submit it. These standards would include ease of access and rights for the Habbox Room department for the room in question, to name a few :)

This would be a great idea for people who love creating cities and theme rooms, and would help get them popular. This idea would also help expand Habbox's popularity. Because, if a room becomes full (25/25) and says Habbox.com in the title, people would see it as it grew to the top of the list in the different categories under Private rooms, therefore more people would visit Habbox. If the people who visit Habbox, visit HabboxForum, the forum would grow, the community would be bigger and more people would be buying VIP. It may not have much of an effect at the beginning of the process but after, let's say, 6 months, this really could help boost Habbox's popularity and help pay for the costly hosting.

Thanks for reading, I'd love to hear any questions you have. :)

Even though I don't use habbo anymore I think it's a great idea :)

That would be pretty cool but really the only person who could really own it would be an (A)GM because if it was just a dept manager they could leave and 100's of porters not get given to the next manager which would then like jeopodise the idea. And I doubt an (A)GM would have the time to keep it updated but I like it maybe a way round it!

porters? :S

There would be a staff forum for them on HxF and there would be a sticky with a list of rooms awaiting approval and awaiting trial. There would be another stick of current rooms that are in use and the dept. staff would edit it with a date next to each one as to when the last one was checked to make sure it still meets standards.

Any new managers would be fine?

Starting up a new department does not take a minute or two to do properly despite what you think. It requires a lot of thought and time. There are other priorities at the moment such as my exams that are taking up most my time right now. After exams there's a whole load of things queued up to be done that I think Habbox users will appreciate a lot. We have a big to do list for this summer and this idea will be on there but certainly will not come first :).

Maybe in future I won't reply to suggestion threads since people like you think that if something isn't done immediately then nothing will be done at all and we are being lazy. What volunteer work do you do may I ask? Maybe if you got a job at Habbox, worked hard and made it to the top to see how much work goes on behind the scenes, you will think twice before saying any staff member is lazy ever again. So much effort is put by everyone here at Habbox. You should start to appreciate what we offer more and keep in mind, this fansite and just like any Habbo fansite is ran by teenagers not executives at massive corporations. We do what we do to learn and burn some time, not to make huge profits.

All suggestions usually require polishing and thinking about, rarely will the thread creator think about all sides. Plus appointing a manager to a new department is no easy task.

Harry, I have been on contact with MAD alot of the last few weeks etc and to be honest alot of people need to see what is going on behind scenes alot of preparation etc is needed it isn't such as simple as clicking your fingers and it's done, alot of people are just following a band wagon now, the situation was arouse after such threads as the wifi device thread was just shunned to aside which I think should be re-looked at again, but for now leave him alone and let him get on with his exams, he wants to go somewhere in his life.

I understand Habbox has a lot of priorities before this, and if it comes in to action near December or early 2009, that would be fine. Running a site like Habbox requires skill and effort - and I respect you for all the time you put into the site.

May I ask, if a department is too much, then do you have an idea to work around? IF so, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I don't believe it would take that long, in the time of a month I believe it could be up and running, very well. I wouldn't mind doing some preparations and organising the setup of the department, I believe I would do a very good job. I, myself, do not have any exams at current so this would be no problem.

Thanks :]

Fansites should always be looking for something that makes them stand out, especially as we are official now. What makes us different from the other official fansites?

I believe this idea would definitely make us unique to the others and could only boost the success of Habbox.

if they did that then thing like habbox and all sites contain "habbo" in that habbox own, may have to be renamed to suit the new general forum, if u know what I mean and it is now habbo official so I don't think it will now.

But there's one major difference, you're missing the point. It isn't Habbox staff (unless they wanted to), it's the general public making the rooms, therefore they feel more involved with Habbox, yet not staff. :)

Yes there could be a forum in Habbox feedback where people could make a thread with screenshots of their rooms and info about it. Or a forum similar to the 'Ask the x Staff', but instead named 'Nominate your room for Habbox Room Staff'. You get my drift :)

Doubtful really, there are plenty of general forums about so no-one new would ever turn up. Being a forum that is directly about something means that people will certainly come along from there and join up - there's plenty in the non Habbo areas of HxF for those who don't like it, so cutting away from Habbo would only harm the inflow of new members.

On topic: I think it's a good idea if properly moderated. Having people make *+*MA HOUSE*~+* as a room with a couple of beds and a TV would just make clutter, but possibly there could be themed areas whereby rooms of a certain genre are placed together. For example, Runescape rooms could all be in one place, techie rooms, alt artist rooms etc etc and then of course among actual theme rooms those can be categorised fairly easily. Still, big job for whoever takes it up.

This is why I suggested having Habbox Room staff, these people would ensure such rooms would not appear in the list.

Yes, Habbox has some things that make them stand out but how many fansites can say that they have an Official Rooms Department? How many fansites can say 'We like to sponsor Habbos with their magnificent rooms'?
I'd say none that I've come across have had an original idea such as this.

We may have the rares values, news, articles, radio etc but that could be said for most sites? Not many will be able to say that they have an Official Rooms section. :D

I do really like this idea. I imagine a lot of people would be willing to make rooms and I think it'd be a good idea to only let the really imaginative and well thought out rooms be part of the Habbox rooms. By doing this it would ensure that all visitors would get the 'wow' factor in every room. I certainly think it's a nice idea and it'd be good to see it implemented some time soon. :)

I like the idea, but I'm not entirely sure what we from Habbox would be giving them, since our advertisement is the only thing we can offer and we can't post a banner for every "official" Habbox Room on the homepage.

Its a good idea but what would be the incentives, apart from perhaps having DJs go there to hold their parties?

For Habbo's to explore there. Like when Lost_witness made that theme park, people just went to explore and mess about, meet new people. We wouldn't have to advertise every room, there would only be say 1/2 advertised p/week.

It would gain Habbox more popularity, therefore a bigger community on the forums, therefore a potential increase in the amount of VIP sales. :)

Ok basically this idea link's to one Nick came up with a few day's ago.

What is the 'Room Department'? The room department would basically be based on a department of 'richer' habbox users, that design rooms for our event organisers and DJ's. They would get requests from DJ's and Event Organisers, and they would then design a room for it.

What's the point?! Well i hear you asking yourself 'What is the point?!' The reason the idea would be good is because many people may not be rich enough to make event rooms and party rooms, but might have enough furni to give habbo's prizes. Since let's be honest if you are a event organiser you would want to give a good impression on habbox, and it is not a very good impression if the room has 6 stools in it! The impression is also ruined if the prize is bad. So why not have a good prize AND a good room?!

What about the DJ's? Well I am sure every DJ would agree, that most partying habbo's would like to party in a good room than a empty room! It would also give DJ's more things to do like they could say: FIRST TO SIT ON THE MAJESTIC GETS A PRIZE! But let's be honest if the room is empty what can you do? Also themed rooms would make it more interesting for users to enjoy!

Would the department get payed? Obviously they would not get payed as habbox is a voluntary site! But many people enjoy creating rooms! If a event organiser/DJ told a designer they needed a room for a certain date, the designer would have plenty of time!

Why have a department? If you don't have a department you could have any random habbo's designing rooms, and really you want a more trustworthy habbo designing a room for you, than some habbo that is going to take credit then ruin it for you!

What does habbox get out of all of this then? Well habbox would get more popularity and if we linked this to a teleporter in Nick's 'city theme' idea, then we would have a main 'city' of teleporters then one teleporter could link off to a game hall and another to a selection of DJ rooms!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well that's the idea!

Here is the link to Nick's Thread!: http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=487754

Thoughts?

P.S. It is just expanding on Nick's idea, and instead of the theme bit, it concentrates mroe on why a department would be good!

If you apply to be an Events Organiser, part of your job is to create rooms for your events to be held in. If that aspect of the job goes to someone else, then why not just have the person who created the room being an Events Organiser themselves?
If you can't afford to create good events and be able to give out reasonable prizes, then don't apply for the job.

Regarding the idea about DJ rooms, I don't think someone would create a whole new room specifically for a 30 minute - an hour DJ party for listeners to end up changing rooms half way through.
It's quite pointless.

Like MAD said in another thread, this idea doesn't require a new department. If people want to create rooms for Habbox to use in events or DJ parties to help out their friends, then they can, but I don't think they need to be part of the Habbox Staff team to be able to do that.

VIP does not devide the community in my opinion. Anyone is eligible to buy it so it is not elitest. What you are proposing is a department that only the 'richest' Habbox members could belong to which is elitest. Just my opinion though :)

I haven`t mentioned anything about event rooms, I think youŽre replying to another post but whatever.

IŽll post more on my idea when I get home :)

There were two threads, but MAD merged them. My post was to do with DJ-Dominator's thread, not yours. :)
