I say the iPod Touch is better to watch movies on with its bigger screen. But it depends what you really want. I do recommend the iPod Touch to anyone though.

Get the one with the most memory.

Go with the Touch.

Bigger screen, more features etc...

You wont fill up 16GB, let alone 160GB.

With movies you would? I have a 200+ collection of movies formatted for iPod and my iPod Touch is constantly at it's limit, I only have 5/6/7 movies on at a time.

i'd get the 160gb classic because it's cheaper and i've got well over 16gb's of music so i'd have to choose what i want on there and i cba with that.

i say get the one with the most memory, touch has so many pointless features really.

It ultimately depends on how many videos you'll want to store. If you're wanting to store a large amount, go for the 160GB. However, if you wish to have fewer movies, and enjoy playback on a larger screen then go touch.

I use the default iPod Touch settings in Handbrake with a res of 1400kbps, it compress's it. Most of my movies are around a gig, cos if you compress it anymore it doesn't look TV/DVD quality on the iPod screen.

Yes, however you can still store more on the 160GB. Much, much more.

Ahaha, i will. There's a black market thing going on at my school. There is this dude who you give a list of movies/tv programmes with your ipod and he will put them onto your ipod for you. He also sells pirate games and DVDs out of his bag LOL

A gig?

If you download a film about 1:30 hours long off somewhere like the Pirate Bay they are around 600mb, then you can compress it further and it will still look brilliant on the Touch...

Why when I can just rip DVD's - sorry but until you have seen DVD quality on an iPod, you don't know it can get any better. Movies I used to download for my iPod off of PB look absoulute crap now. I notice if I only compress it at say 960kbps the quality is reduced a lot.

So what do you rip it at then?

I also use the same method as Nick, wonderful quality.

Personal Preference I guess.

And the default Kbp/s in handbrake for Windows is like 940... :/

1400kbps. The iPod is capable of playing 1500kbps however I find sometimes Handbdrake may sometimes go slightly over this and the movie will not sync to the iPod, therefore I use 1400kbps for a good leeway. I also embed soft-subtitles, meaning I can choose whether or not I want subtitles to show on the iPod video player. I also use two pass encoding :]

It is in OS X too Tom, however I alter it.. ?

I don't know - someone recommended me to do it (I saw it on a MacWorld video) and I did and basically it just rips the DVD twice over the same file, it takes longer but there is a noticable difference in quality, and the file size is no bigger then it would be without using it.

My encoding settings -

Wrong. The films you get off piratebay are mostly in .avi format which is much more compressed than mp4. When converted to mp4 anyway you will end up with a bigger file.
