View Full Version : BYFO
Now i know it would be for only 18+ but oh well. BYFO stands for 'Bet Your Friends Online'. It gives you a way to easily and quickly bet your friends or anyone in the world on current events whether it be rugby, football or dog racing. It would ensure that they pay because its automatic and you always get people who dont (damn them). The system as i see it would be that the owners will put up the bets that people can place and after the event has finished, when an admin logs in they check the box of who won and when clicking confirm, it automatically notifies the user if they won or lost and removes the money from their account.
This thread is generally to get an idea of what you think about the idea and whether you would use it were you old enough. Also to see what you think of the name, logo and design but also colours.

One of the best ideas I've heard in years. You could sell this to a big corporation and make a MINT! This could be the next amazon/google/facebook with the right funding and the right team. Good luck!

lol, my brother said that :P I just need to get some sort of funding and look aroun for help
That layout looks lush! Good luck with it all. :)
thanks :)
if i was to get everything ready IE: business plan, layout etc how would i i go about talking to large organisations without them stealing my idea? and which would be the best companies to contact?
EDIT: to above, i dont really know what you mean :P i thought it was self explanatory :). The concept is that people bet their friends all the time but its not always efficient and you cant do it all the time. plus people dont always pay up (there is always someone). Its not just friends you can bet but that is the main concept. You add friends to your account jsut like you would on facebook/myspace etc

Maybe, have "ratings" system, where users can rate the user on trust etc.

good idea but i dont think it would work since it would automatically deduct and add onto each others accounts. I was thinking of a sort of leaderboard for play money. but in seriousness, who could i con tact such as businesses and what could i do to stop them stealing ideas

Display some form of an idea, then copyright the idea, make them sign a contract that, the idea will be only open to you, until they sign for a sponsor
or whatever.

Um, aren't places like 888 and so on purposely for this anyway? So do you mean that anyone can be a broker on a subject and take bets upon anything. That has to be EXTREMELY moderated as there are things which are illegal to bet upon, and if found on the site then you could be looking at a loss of a lot of money.
The fact that payments are after the event is insecure also. You'd be better to take the money once the bet is placed from both the better and broker's accounts. You then hold the money in deep space nine until the event is over and deposit the amount into the winner's account. This way the person can't cancel their account if they are to lose out.
Idea great, reality not so great.

If you thought Chelsea would beat Arsenal but I felt the other way we could make a bet on it, the script sends the amount of the betted money to the winner. I guess..

Both top league teams, popular world wide.
And it was just a brief explanation, I don't need to go into details.

@Invent - BetFair.com lets you bet against your friends.
I don't see this idea working, the betting/online gambling market is highly competitive and the companies who dominate the market spend millions promoting their sites. Nearly all, if not all betting sites give a deposit bonus as well.
Also, if the site is purely betting against friends, where do you make your money? If your thinking of taking a cut of the bet, the friends might as well just bet with each other properly.
Finally, the design isn't too my taste but I suppose it's not bad compared to the stuff I have seen on this forum. Even if you did go ahead with the idea, the design doesn't compare to sites like www.betfair.com, www.ladbrokes.com, www.williamhill.co.uk and lots of other gambling sites.
PS: Not being horrible or bigheaded or anything - I just can't see the idea working out.

Are you sure that the domain you want will be available, if it's BYFO..
I can't really explain things that are in my head very well in a short amount of time :P what I am thinking of will work but I just cant think of the right way to put it. The idea to make money is that we would take a. % of the bet but I dont think that it will defer people. You can't know that the person is going to pay and you cannot bet random people over the Internet easily. When I'm on my computer I'll explain it better but I plan to contact a few betting sites tonight.

Ah, that was it, thanks Ryan.
Open-market betting company that allows customers to make their own odds in order to transact with each other at mutually beneficial levels.
That sounds exactly like your idea.

Just a thought... You need a gamlbers license, and you must ensure it is soley for over 18s only and all that cant be bothered to go into all the details but you MUST obtain a gambling license and I know the penalty for anyone underage gambling is a few thousand to the company...
Hope that made sense but yeh a good idea kind of like betfair

Setup a PayPal subscription, allow them to select the terms of agreement, and do like LindenLabs do, and you can take out money anytime they purchase something.. without having to login again to PayPal.
Or they can add money to their account, as you said.

Pretty sure you can't use paypal with online gambling sites.
