You do know that by making idiot an insult after so long, you are treating people like little kids?

I mean come on, it shows even in school. You call someone an idiot and don't get in trouble. But on here you do.

I think MAD is a bit odd if he takes idiot as an insult.

Tell me about it. If it is such a sin to say it then why is it not filtered with the other insults?

A lot of the time it's actually true, too.

I agree with the thread started, if they still say idiot is an insult, they're treating us like we are much young. I mean, at the teenager age like most of us here, we know swear words that most adults don't, we find them on things like urban dictionary :P

Shurrup, idiot.

It's like calling someone a stupid head as opposed to a REMOVED

Lol and that can't be considered rude because it's random, which makes it funny and laughable. If anyone takes that as an insult they seriously need a smach with the get real stick :P

I would like it if Habbox Forum aimed to please their target audience which are teenagers and not this idea that we/they are all 10 or so. The excuse "children use this forum" doesn't mean anything, because those children shouldn't be on a forum which is for teenagers, if Habbox did allow children, they'll be suggesting Habbo is for children, which it isn't. Habbo is a "hangout for teens" which means anything related, e.g. Habbox should also be by teens for teens. They can't even use the excuse "Habbo has this filtered, that filtered and those filtered" because Habbox Forum has had these problems for a while now, even before Habbox became official and Habbo couldn't doa thing unless there were illegal activities going on.

This rule has been in place before I was even a moderator ;).

The reason for it being against the rules is that it causes arguments. If I call you an idiot, you will call me something back and I will reply to that and others will get involved and it will make the thread go out of hand and off topic. It's not so much the fact you are calling someone an idiot that is the problem (at least the way I see it), it's the consequence that things like this cause.

Simply put, insulting another user will cause an argument and make the atmosphere very bad.

The reason it's not on the filter is because it can be used in other ways that are not insulting and isn't inappropriate to younger members like words we have filtered.

Plus if you are saying you are old and mature etc, then I am sure you can control yourself and ignore people who you feel the need to call an idiot ;).

Also, you're complaining saying 'why's it not filtered' but if it was filtered, you'd still all be complaining because of that.

In some terms the word can be used offensively, as in a case of flaming a thread starter or someone breaking the rules, or generally flaming someone you dislike.

But the word itself wouldn't really be considered an offensive word, more of a word to use then something over the top such as ''*****''

Look - the admins and management here will ALWAYS have an answer to fire back at you, no matter how much you try to prove them wrong.

A slight exageration there, Jamie, perhaps? Idiot has always been frowned upon as MAD says although it used just to warrant an edit. If people then continued calling the same person that further steps were taken. It is only recently that it has attracted an infraction which I personally, feel is pretty harsh. I don't condone it but it is pretty mild compared to somethings on here

The problem is not that idiot is a swear word, which I don't think it is. Therefore it also doesn't need to be filtered. Using the word idiot in a non-offensive way is also not a problem.
The problem is that calling somebody an idiot is rude. This has nothing to do with age, if two adults call each other an idiot it's still rude just the same.

That pretty much sums up why it isn't allowed. Its just trolling.

So what happens if I call Immenseman an idiot, jokingly? Because I beleive in some cases people have been warned/infracted for calling someone an idiot when they were joking:

"Oh I crashed my car into a pole."
"You idiot."

Even when it is meant to be rude, e.g. I think 1 x 2 = 3, that person is clearly an idiot and calling them an idiot wouldn't be out of context and in my opinion, doesn't warrant an infraction or warning, just a little edit under the post, or PM which you really should be getting into. Also, you say adults, why does no-one accept that teens talk different to adults and act and talk different to children?!

There is a great deal of difference between somebody calling somebody an idiot and trolling unless that person is continually doing it and spamming the forum which does happen and they end up perm banned.

Each case should be dealt with on its individual merits in my view and say in the spam forum it used to be a lot more relaxed as friends often 'insulted' each other but this was 'banter' and in fun.

Idiot said and meant is not nice bit I do think the 'penalty' for this should be reviewed so that the 'punishment' fits the crime better.
