but will it be worth it? ;)

So basically, your getting more staff to help out around the forum rather than just one overall Forum Manager?

We'd certainly like to think so!

I agree with Jesus that this all looks very promising, I have always been for the idea because I believe it was squash some problems that are currently occuring, I hope so anyway. We will see how successful it is when it's all implemented but I do think and hope these changes will be beneficial to Habbox. :)

One question though - What will happen to Elkaa if your changing the Forum Manager rank?

Hate the idea....

Only joking. Maybe it will create a better and more efficient Habbox.

Hmm it's okay, I'm hoping the best is still to come. Good news so far but it's not going to effect the average forum member too much, a long thread with 2 reasonable changes, it's all a bit too much talk and not much walk.

Seems intresting and i'm looking forward to the changes :).

But one thing, I swear we used to have the community manager role previously anyway? I believe it was Surname who had the position O.o.

Looks good, but other than a few super moderators, no-one really looks good enough for a job like that.

I think it's a really good idea that you are introducing new managerial roles to help boost the forums support and the way things are done.

I'm looking forward for when the new ideas are implimented :). Although i'd really love to be apart of the future management ;).

It'll never work. Why not just revert to an older system which seemingly worked and kept the community close together :rolleyes_

All you are really doing is hiring more people. What we need is what Tom said. When we had DJ, Jack & Seacat it was better as rules were more relaxed & they contributed in terms of posting in all sections & not take everything seriously (in a good way). Now we get infracted because the moderators & management never try to get to know the members therefore they struggle to distinguish when a member is joking. What we really need is more contribution from the staff.

It sounds like a good idea, but will only work if you hire the right person, who talks to people and is available hopefully each day, otherwise it's wasted effort.

I look forward to this staff system, I like how you make the link from users to managers through the community manager role, so they can sort of represent us and suggest to the manager what to do.

Nice one Habbox!

Well it seems a lot of effort and thought has gone into this by MAD and all the senior management seem to want to make Habbox Forum a community to be proud of which is safe but fun to be on. That's sounds fine to me. With new departments it will probably take some fine tuning to get it right. I like the idea of 2 departments One will hopefully balance the other and with 3 AGMs who are all positive taken on the mantle of FM, no one person holds the balance of power. If it works as it should I feel the whole ethos of Habbox will be a lot more flexible and friendly! Look forward to it. :)

Elkaa

Elkaa will become a general administrator like OSH. :)

Not entirely.

I'm going to be based alot more heavily on the forum than OSH is, mostly working with the AGM team developing/researching new ideas for the forum, and being more community involved.

At current, Forum Manager has alot of roles in it - Which are too much for one person to handle, between community, moderation, feedback, development, ideas, research, reports, hireing/fireing, promoting and other things ontop of that. By splitting it into different sections, it will hopefully help the forum itself.

I've already said to MAD that I don't wish to be either of these two new roles (not that it was offered ;)) but instead I'll remain, for the time being, as Forum Manager. After that, we'll see how it goes.

JackBuddy
30-05-2008, 04:57 PM
Hopefully somebody like GommeInc will get either role.

Let's just hope that the moderation manager has enough common sence to realise that infracting someone for saying idiot is childish.

I think making the AGMs Forum Management is one of the best changes that has been made on Habbox in ages. It will prevent one person having too much power over people.

WELL DONE

Why are you speaking as if that's what everyone wants? All the super moderators are great in my opinion - Just because you don't know them doesn't mean they can't do a good job.

It will indeed help the forum, I employ the same principle with the senior writer programme in the articles department and it works amazingly well, the workload is split between three people leaving them with almost nothing to do, but what they do do they do extremely well and it all comes together really nicely. I hope that principle works well for this rejigging of the forum structure, obviously it won't be as simple as "you edit articles, you do reports" etc but it should work along the same lines :)

In which case you'll be disappointed, as far as I've heard the AGMs will remain with the roles they have now, but they will be working very closely with the current forum management to finalise the changes, as they do with all changes. But as for the one person having the power thing, it can work both ways. It can have a negative effect, as has been proven when there have been two VIP editors. It all depends on how much the community manager and moderation manager jobs overlap. If there's no overlap at all, it should work very well. We shall see.

Well as I see it yes they will be a lot more involved as they will all have the title of Forum Management and have the final say on most things to do with the forum.

Part of MAD's announcement.

The plan is to discontinue the Forum manager (FM) role as we know it. Instead, FM will be known as the Forum Management, who each Assistant General Manager (AGM) (Immenseman, Joshuar, Nvrspk4 - yes them, the green little men ) will be part of. They, as they have been for a very long time (and will be), the ones with the final say, making changes to the forum and discussing many aspects of the forum. We will be introducing two, new big managerial roles, each with a department to look after.

Also I am sure that the new departments will want to work positively together to make Habbox even better. Communication will be the key to this. :)

That's what I get for reading the announcement when I've just got back from holiday and am completely shattered then :P Apart from the title change, I can't see much job change though, it sounds pretty much like what they do now. But I've heard they've often been overidden and effectively ignored when it comes to changes, hopefully the new system will see more of a discussion process than a "here's an idea, inject any improvements into it before I pass it through" process. As you say, it all comes down to communication :)

Nixt

It sounds like a considerable amount of effort has to be put into this plan and I think it's great that senior management are starting to work on improving some problems that have been ongoing and have been the root cause of complaints in the past. I am particularly impressed in regard to the idea of improving communication between staff and users - as it's something that I have said needs improving for a long while. I look forward to seeing it implemented, I hope it all works out :D.

No, he said he wants stuff replaced. If he can do a better job than what we have then he can have a go at making them (if it bothers him that much - seeing as he has some talent in the graphics area ;)).
