Well, i was thinking this about 2 o'clock in the morning

"Why dont we have oval tv shapes?"

I mean, our eyes are oval right? (Circle or w.e) so why cant we have a oval tv?

I was talking to dave about it but he was abit pissed in the head and wanted some fun *cough*

so he told me to post it here ^_^.

Discuss the good and bad reasons :).

recording would be awkward and thequality would be stretched or squashed in places.

yes but they will have to record twice and some programs will be broadcasted to oval and others too aquare so they would have to be on totally different signals and stuff.

I'm not sure but i reckon...

Pixels on a screen are square so there's not any gaps between them. If you think about it oif pixels were circular there's be gaps between them which woulnn't make an image look very good.

Because pixels are square it's just easier to make the whole sereen square otherwise you'd have a jaggedy edged oval screen.

Triangles xD

I just think its a design we have had since day 1 (since TV's were invented) and can't really change it...

You can get them, they're just artsy fartsy sets designed to look cool. You'll need to design film cameras to capture in oval form or have the sets view the image in a way that doesn't cut people out.

If they introduced oval tv then the term "square eyes" would no longer be able to be used by parents. Plus you can fit more into a square, rectangle.
