What do you think of this camera?

Hey, I'm slowly getting interesting in photography and stuff, so I'm looking for a medium - ranged camera, nothing too fancy.

I'm looking at getting a Canon Ixus 75

It has tons of good write ups and its not too expensive. What do you think?

If your looking for a good mid-range I would say look at the Panasonic Lumix range.

That camera is alot of money for what it is. If you are looking to get into photography, I reccomend the FujiFilm S5700 Finepix.

I had alot of cameras like the Canon one you have displayed, however as a snapper. When I got interested in photography, I bought the FujiFilm S5700 to develop my skills, and its a great camera. I still have it, but going to use it as a video recorder now :) (Yes it has video function on it, at good quality).

I own a Canon 400D D-SLR now, as I have progressed from the Fujifilm and Digital Camera 'Snapper' section.

The Fujifilm is £80 cheaper, but does the same things, in a more advanced way.

What is you field in photography?

Because if you want to take above average photos (like long shutter speeds) or decent landscape/portrait photos with a camera that isn't an SLR, then go with the Panasonic Lumix, people in my photography class used cameras similar to that because it worked well with portrait shots of people.

It depends on field really, not this 'snap' crap.

really agree with N1ck about the Lumix range, ive got 1 myself as a "snapper" camera for holidays etc. Paid £180 for it a while back and is perfect in every aspect with some people questioning whether the photos were taken with the D-SLR.

Also the guy above bragging about the 400D... its still a snapper's camera just has a professional look to it and a few features....a 1Ds mk3 can be a snappers camera....its how the camera is used which defines if its a snapper... friends of mine use Konica Minolta camera's much like your fujifilm and use them professionally so gets annoying with 12 year olds raving about their dads 400d saying they're professional because they use it.

Personally i would have bought a Canon 350D from Canada for about £250 and got a few DC series lens's ... again you should know the glass in front of the sensor does a lot of the work. Have fun Snapping ;)

I don't think its worth it. I got a 7mp Pentax Optio s7 which is probably a lot better than the camera you're looking at for £105.
