Okokokokokok. Right. My Laptop wouldn't connect to my wireless router for some reason (god knows why), so trying to get it to work, i saw a network on my list called 'BTOpenZone.'

I live at least 70-100metres from a commercial building... I don't understand WHY I would get a BTOpenZone connection. There is nowhere for it to come from! I don't live in a particularly built up area with flats etc, just in a suburb.

What's going on?

No Dave.

BTOpenZone is normally found in places such as Service Stations. Its normally a public access point. I am on BT, and if I come across a BTOpenZone connection, I enter my username and password and I can use the internet for free, using my unlimite mins.

Make sure you have not signed up for BT Fon, which allows other people around you to connect to your router - you don't really want this :S

Can I physically come round and kick you in the head, ALEX, I will screenie my macbook as evidence later. Any BT hub emits the signal

Dave is correct as usual =)
Any of the updated BT routers have been updated to give the option I believe of "BTOpenZone" as they call it.

BT are trying to make a massive nationwide network so that people can get Wi-Fi from anywhere, BT were asking people if they wanted to sign up to this, it would mean that there router could be assessable by anyone that also signed up to the wireless network.

So it sounds like all the routers that signed up to be part of the network maybe have been changed to BT Open Zone or whatever it was called.
