The upcoming new series of Big Brother will feature a blind contestant, according to reports.
The ninth series of the hit Channel 4 reality TV (http://www.entertainmentwise.com/news/42906/new-big-brother-to-feature-blind-housemate#) show begins on Thursday, and producers have gone out of their way to make the programme suitable for the new contestant.
A source tells The People, “BB is ready to take a blind person into the house.
"Everything possible has been done to make sure the person settles in and is not sidelined. The house has been designed in an accessible way.
"Bosses plan to do everything in their power to make sure the person's stay is comfortable and enjoyable."
Spokeswoman for RNIB Ciara (http://www.entertainmentwise.com/news/42906/new-big-brother-to-feature-blind-housemate#) Smyth welcomed the report, saying, "I think having somebody blind or partially sighted on Big Brother could be really positive in terms of changing people's attitudes to blindness."
i dont know if the source is reliable or not :P http://www.entertainmentwise.com/news/42906/new-big-brother-to-feature-blind-housemate

How is that gonna' work, theirs a high chance they'll get voted out early, like how are they gonna' really community with the environment themself, they mightn't be able to even get into the jacuzi
If i was BB i'd say the door is now open, and see what he did.

How would they get to the Diary Room etc? What about when they get evicted, will they have to have liek Davina come down and help them up?
I think it's ridiculous, it will just end up being another Blind versoin of Shilpa Shetty, discrimanation, and things like that will force the poor person out of the house. :@

I really think that is ridiculous if i was blind i wouldnt want to go into the big brother house i mean that is taking reality television abit too far its a stupid idea
i think the reason would be that thy will HAVE to accomodate them. theyll find a way to do it and it may show how nasty people are as they will need help all the time

I read this in a interview with Davina, I think it would be interesting but also pretty odd. You never know what to expect with Big Brother anymore. The theme this year is 'War & Order' fgs! I personally think it'll be one of the best big brothers to come.

But if you think about it - it'll make people reliese what blind people have to cope with, and it'll change peoples' views imo.

if they have a walk-dog with them that'll do me.
I agree with everyone else
Its soo stupid, Even having a guide dog wouldn't work because they wouldn't know where to go?
If it is true, BB will get alot of stick...

how is the housemate gonna be able to do the tasks to be fair? like they always do an obstacle course one, omg. & if they get sympathy vote :| agghhh!! fair enough if they have a decent personality and is going to make the show interesting, but just imagine them coming out of the house and like falling down the steps :| ....
Wow i so want this person to run into the glass door..

"this is big brother. could blind man come to the diary room.. yep, its near the entrance.. cold, cold, cold.. wait warm, warm, your getting there.. hot hot BOOILING BINGO!"
Making light of the situation^^
I dont know how this could work
pros - it will open awareness to blind people. cons - the obvious.
I have a friend who is blind, there is no reason they should be banned from doing this. but obv, there will be some problems :P

I doubt this is true. But if it is, it wouldn't be fair on the blind contestant because they won't be able to get the most out of the experience and might not be able to participate in most of the tasks, etc.
