View Full Version : Top 10/20 played songs a week
Well im adding a new feature to our DJ Panel, alows the DJ's to submit and vote on songs which they think are that weeks top 10 or 20 songs.
What would you says the best way to do this?
I was thinking:
DJ Submits a song if not listed
If its listed, they can vote on it
A cron is ran every week and picks the top 10/20 songs using the votes.
What other ways could I do this.. which is more efficient?

you wouldnt need a cron. all it would be basically is a simple php voting system (like what you'd expect from a HxF poll)

The cron would store the top 10 or 20 into another database and deletes all the votes.
Makes the Radio Managers jobs easier :P

Hey Jack, how did you do your timetable? I've tried so many times but failed

Just simply selects the slots from the timetable database.

instead of using normal radio stats get it to enter it into the database evey 20 seconds and get it too delete duplicated that are less than 4 mins between then u have all of the songs played then get it to order the top 10 by most entries :)

Good idea :P
You could always make it so it searches to see if the song is in the database and if it is instead of adding its self again it just increase the "times played" number in the table.

You should get your DJ's to rename their jingles to things like
*IGNORE - JINGLE* and filter it from being added ;)

Well all jingles have the word jingle in them, so if the song name contains jingle, don't add it :P
Only problem is, alot of people download them, so the names of the songs could be like:
artist-title
artist - title
artist - title(1)
Website - artist - title
Or, some DJ's have a message aswell as there song name :(

Tell them to rename them, or don't get the full title, get the artists and titles seperatley?
