Australia, a staunch U.S. ally and one of the first countries to commit troops to the war in Iraq five years ago, ended combat operations there Sunday.

We practically are. We've withdrawn to about 5,000 in Basra airport helping train the local police and Army. We did have 30,000+ out there.

What's wrong with the phrase "war on Iraq"? It fits fine, same way as "war on terror" or "war on drugs" works.

Tons of western countries are in Iraq, but England and America seem to be the only ones that most people know about.

Ignorance itt
The news didn't seem to make it out that we were withdrawing all the troops, I guess we are then. Welcome home parades are planned so its all good :)
Maybe this will cause a domino effect for some of the other countries to start considering withdrawing their troops.

'cause we're not fighting the Iraqi people, we're fighting the Insurgants there. So it'd be the War on Terror in Iraq.

Are we not technically still in a state of war against Iraq then? If not fair enough, I just haven't paid enough attention.
Also Australia follow us wherever we go because we are their masters, ain't that right Blake?

The war ended way back on May 1st, 2003 when Bush declared we'd defeated Iraq's "conventional" army. We've just be "stabilizing" and "rebuilding" and acting as "advisors and security" since.

Ahhh well you know how far behind Australia are on everything (except Neighbours), maybe they only just realised.

The queen would send Australia's army out before ours because it makes sense like that.
