is it possible to install ubuntu and then if my dad tells me to take it off, take it off, remove the partition and restore the vista partition size to normal, without destroying data?

I've done it, you do it in vista quite easily yes. Get EasyBCD to help with restoring the bootloaders and things.

Thanks.

I'll just clarify once more:

I have a laptop with 2 partitions:
-Rescue (?GB)
-Windows Vista (80GB)

When I install Ubuntu I'll have roughly:
-Rescue (?GB)
-Windows Vista (50GB)
-Ubuntu (30GB)
-GRUB Bootloader (i think that's it's name?)

then is it possible to then revert back to:
-Rescue (?GB)
-Windows Vista (80GB)
-Normal Bootloader
WITHOUT LOSING THE DATA ON THE VISTA PARTITION.

I've dealt with EasyBCD before. But only because I installed Ubuntu with Wubi.

I thought I answered this, yes you can do this very easily non wubi.

Just right click on the computer > manage and then go to storage.

Just right click the largest vista partition and click shrink.

To fix it just delete the linux partition the same way as above, just by right clicking and selecting delete volume and then right click on the vista partiton and click extend volume.

Simple as mate :)
