Yeah, I heard that. I thought it was pretty good considering her absence. Her lyrics have a better flow than Lil Mama's.

I really like her music but I would never have heard of her if it wasn't for the girlfriend remix.

that's where i disagree LOL
lil kim and missy ain't hitting back hard anymore, and most older artists aren't getting noticed (eg. nas, ashanti, j-lo) so i don't see how they're gonna last anymore.

lil' mama is keeping hip hop fresh, whereas older artists just ain't bringing it.

Yeah but Lil Mama's lyrics aren't as popular as Lil Kims with people who've been fans of female rap for years, I can say that without consideration. Lil Kim has made a huge mark on the industry, good and bad, as has Foxxy Brown as FJ said. Well Ashanti's new album has just been released in the U.S so she'll get her comeback in no time. Love J-Lo but unfortunately her album didn't go down well, poor sales, reviews etcetera. Back to Lil Mama, I just think she's popular with the younger generation. Her lyrics are bouncy, fun, I wouldn't say her lyrics are as "real" as Kims.

Yeah, she's playing hard ball with the older rappers but in no time soon is she gonna make an impressionable mark on the genre.

Lil' Mama is more mainstream as she's more novelty, but she has done more serious songs like L.I.F.E, so of course shes not gonna grab in fans of older rap instantly especially after Lipgloss. I reckon if she goes the right way though she could have a long successful career, especially considering there aren't many new major label signed female rappers about.

As for Ashanti she's predicted to sell between 70-80k in the first week which is extremely poor for her standards. She delivered a great comeback single but got no hardly any recognition whatsoever for it in the US. It's annoying how such talented artists are underlooked, even those who've had great sales in the past.

LM's record label are doing a really poor job of portraying her as an artist to be taken seriously. They've done nothing but make her release songs to attract the younger generation, I think that's where the problem lies. If she was to rap about meaningful stuff rather than lipgloss and getting loose, maybe she will go further but until her label stops treating her like an amateur, she won't.

I was unaware that it'd only sold that many, according to one of her fansites it was a much larger quantity. The debut single from the album was great, but definitely wasn't her best and I couldn't agree more with you about how the talented artists are being pushed aside for poor ones, who get recognition they don't deserve.
