I haven't even had mine yet, and it's costing way more than expected.

I think our hummer limo to Liverpool was 195 quid/averaging around 15 quid per head.

My suit was 130, shoes 30, the hotel for one night was 95 quid, and drinks and a night out after the celebration and what not will be another 50 or so.

ahhh, so around 285 quid really.

why didn't you just hire a suit? you'll only wear it once.

Asher

OK, I'm guessing you don't plan on attending future job interviews, formal occasions and what not.

Mr.Sam

yes of course, But I expect you will grow out of the suit, it's best to buy one when you stop growing and hire when your still growing.

Mine was last year.
I hired a tuxedo for 7 days (£35) and my Dad's cousin took me in his 2006 Porsche Bosxter xD
So I basically spent £35 overall. It's stupid if you pay like £200+

suit - 100 quid from greenwoods - i've wore it 3 times so it is worth it, and i can't see myself growing much more as im 6ft 1
shoes - already had smart shoes for going out.
limo - i paid 30 quid (split 8 ways)
and 26 quid paid to school who booked venue/meal etc.
your going to a hotel with mates i assume, as after party?
somebody in my year just had a party at their house after

so £156, not bad :8

I've spent nothing, ticket was 15 quid that mom is funding. As I'm pretty much grown up, they're buying a suit. Nothing overly expensive though as that's just ridiculous.

As about a ride, no idea.

if you're under 18 there is no way the driver will let you take drink in, s/he will give you sparkling water :P

Prom is always a huge affair at my house, I wouldn't be surprised if my mom spends $1000 or more on mine!

Mine's a college prom, I don't think I spent over 50 quid on my high school prom. I think it's worth spending that extra when you are leaving college.

i don't tbh cause isn't the typical prom after high school? like that one always happens but i don't think all colleges have them..

about 300 or so, but thats because i had to pay for her dress and ticket cause she's broke.

and limos are useless. i took one at my first prom, such a waste of money. no one cares what you arrive in. one of my friends was dropped off with his girlfriend by his mom and no one was the wiser.

It's dumb if you spent a lot on your Year 11 dance, just wait to spend a reasonable amount on the real prom - when you leave high school.

Humvee limousines are horrible.

Asher

It's all about what you arrive in!!! It's like a competition, to outdo one another. One group have a party bus, and i'm highly jealous.

The white limos are slightly worse, they're like the limo equivalent of a corsa or metro.

i guess england is different than here. no one gave a crap. i can understand a bus if you have mad friends and are having a party or something afterwords, but i just took my girlfriend in my car, and we parked. i dont even know what other people came in. when i took a limo with my friends at junior, all i thought about was how big of a waste of money it was.

It's probably because Americans can usually drive at their prom, we have our school ones when we're 16 and can't drive.

hm lemme think I spent:

£250 - dress
£25 - shoes
£10 - make up
£15 - hair
£20 - hummer
£10 - bag
£20 - photos
£15 - alcohol
£35 - after party dress
£15 - ticket

£465 in total. ONE OF THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ah, good point. but still, you don't need a hummer limo. the best part of prom is post-prom, haha.

i would never spend that much money just for a prom. we dont have one in year 11 - actually, i dont even know if we have 1 in 6th form lol. but yh, i know its a good experience, but spending propa £££ isnt worth it in my eyes. for the price some people have said they spent on their prom, id rather save up that much and just go on a massive holiday with the rest of my friends who saved up that much money.

THE prom is when you finish high school at 17/18.

yeah. junior prom i feel is just a practice prom, its where you learn what to do for next time. its how i learned not to waste money on a limo and start dancing as soon as possible, and dont complain about the music.

Asher

Why would you want to arrive at your prom, with your expensive suit/dress on in public transport, or via your folks or something? It's perfectly fitting to arrive in something a little more different just for one night.

Immenseman
09-06-2008, 03:10 PM
got a suit - 160
shoes - 30
ticket - 15
Me and loads of mates hired a red open top bus seeing as loads of people can fit on it only cost us £5 each.

Altogether £210 but that's not including whatever I spend on the night or any drink for the party afterwards and it's all my parents money so far.

So not too expensive for me, depends what my tux costs :$
