Formula One 2009 was confirmed by Codemasters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codemasters) on the 9th May 2008 and also Codemasters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codemasters) and the FIA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIA) announced that Codemasters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codemasters) secured the rights to Formula One (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formula_One) Games from 2009. And to be on multiple platforms and that it will be "The jewel in the racing game crown". Building on the success of GRID and DiRT, Codemasters Studios is leading the design and development of the games, across multiple formats, using a new evolution of the EGO Engine technology. The first game's expected to launch in 2009, and will feature all the Grand Prix circuits, teams, cars, and driver likenesses from that season.

Glad codemasters got the license. They actually know how to make a good racing game.

Yes, another thing the Sony fan boys can't claim to have now. I was surprised that Codemasters have the licence, however, I'm sure they'll do a good job as they did with DiRT and GRiD.

Certainly not a surprise to me, the only thing I can see going wrong is if they use the same engine they used on DRiT and GRiD

May I ask why? That would just be the physics and collisions of the game, the handling of the cars would be totally different.

Because an F1 car is nothing like a road car, if it hits a wall it'll practically crumble to dust, unlike they do in GRiD, it's very unlikely to continue an F1 race after hitting a wall in real life xD

That's not actually designated by the engine, plus it will be tweaked and modified.

The "EGO" engine is what makes collisions and damage within GRiD, it makes the damage unique and massivly realistic, they probably will use the same engine as it'd be easier than making a whole new one for next years F1 game but it wont be as good because that engine was built for road cars, not F1 cars, F1 2010 should have it's own engine if they want it to be as realistic as they can make it

PC! Thank god for that, I don't own any of the new consoles and play most games on the PC, so I'm gonna be sitting and waiting for this one to come out :P

Agreed with Alex. There hasn't been an f1 game for the PC in ages.

Me and my mates have always said "Wouldn;t it be great if they bought the f1 seris over to xbox?"
