Can anybody please recommend a good free anti-virus program out there?
Dont say AVG, I just tried to disable Residental Shield and it would not budge and then it "self deleted" and cant even delete AVG itself now as files are corrupt..?

+ rep to all suggestions.

Well, you can get a free 30 Day trial of Nod32 i believe. Which is THE best AV out there.

No trials, I hate them.

Also, is AD-AWARE worth downloading?

Ad-Aware isn't an anti-virus, but yes it's a very useful tool. Although you may have some trouble getting it to run on vista

Ad-Aware is Anti-Spyware, it wont block viruses etc like an Anti-virus but it sure as hell will remove them.

The antivirus i reccommend is Avira, it's free, no trial etc always free and is a really good
av. You can download it here (http://www.free-av.com/)

Also, I do know AD-AWARE is Anti Spyware, just wondered if it's any good.
Thanks for any help..

Norton is more worse then windows anti virus program, it'll just slow down your pc.

Best thing you could do: Buy NOD32 Security Suite

I'll consider it.

Hmmm, how did your AVG manage that?! Nod 32 is good, if you're using norton you may aswell use nothing. I removed Norton from the PC downstairs and I never realised how much potential it had, it's fast and reliable now, not slow and crash crazy.
