Good to see that you've used Google. ;)

I use BBEditor but that's not exactly the best, and it's basically just a notepad.

The basic would be Dreamweaver but definitely Coda.

Why do these developers create applications for such **** platforms...

Throw your MAC away and buy a real PC.

I've asked myself the same question with Windows.

Yeah CODA is an amazing application. Extremely simple and elegant yet has everything you'll need. I prefer it to Dreamweaver by a long shot.

I can't do it in larger text, use Zend Studio for Eclipse it is superior to "Coda"

Mac > Windows - Everyone knows it, just Windows owners won't accept it until their computer dies opening a .txt.

My computers never die, people who start downloading crap from the net will get crap on their PC - they are the people who go for Mac's. Look at me for example, I have a Pent 4 2.6GHz, RAM 768MB and Nvidia (AGT) 7300GT or something - Though I never get "lag" on that computer, even when on games like Call of Duty, yes I have to run in low rez but no lag as such. The only reason computers crash are because of the third party crap people install on them.

No, it's Windows. My vista ready laptop crashed and failed to install Vista. Face it, it's the whole Windows platform.

My Windows has never crashed, I run XP, I make it run how I want, and I have perfect stability, no lag, no errors

Greg, just because your PC sucks doesn't mean ours do. Vista is fine aslong as you don't **** it up installing stupid untrusted 3rd party content.

I got to say Vista does suck though, probably because im not into all that GUI crap - though it has crashed a lot in the past when I used it on a high performance laptop of mine.

Windows users need to realise their desktops and laptops suck if they keep them running Windows OS. Until you move to Mac you don't realise how much Windows holds you back on things like design, music, video and coding. Mac overall is much greater than Windows. They are even priced much cheaper considering all the highly priced software you get along with it, not to mention the very expensive font packages which make my design life a lot cheaper and easier :)

I rather go to linux in all honesty. I think the whole apple range is mainstream bullocks.

I tried OS X for a week and a bit. I was not impressed by the level of stupidity you have to have to use it.

How does windows hold you back from coding? Yes Apples are known for better graphics/video editing but thats about it... you see them on movies so you think that they're good but you end up having to put up with it.

Not really, the tools in Windows are just as, or in some cases more powerful than the mac ones.

Mac's do look rather confusing to use. I've tried a display one at PC World. I couldn't seem to get it to work :P. However the first time I used windows I clicked onto it straight away. It's just matter of preference, and that's what people seem to forget. Argueing over who has the best OS is kind of pathetic, because as I just said it's a matter of preference.

Most of the time a matter of needs rather than preference. For example I work in web design, therefore I need a system which can run smoothly and provide great feedback in terms of output in the display. Places like Virb Inc who have the best designed websites online today (in my opinion) have all their staff running Mac Pros as they do what that industry needs.

When it comes to things such as gaming or administration (word documents, spreadsheets, powerpoints etc) then you're better off with a Windows as that's more their area with upgradable graphics and the internationally used Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Vista is a very good OS, if you can use it correctly.
And yeah, just because your laptop screwed up, you can't judge the other 5+ million plus of working perfectly versions?

They do, and they crash without an error message so if something goes wrong and you can't boot, bye bye mac. With Windows you can just find the driver, hardware or error that's causing it to go wrong and fix it.

Thought so, my iTouch is broke and I'm pondering on how to fix it with no actual error message other than "you have an error".

They actually hold alot more songs and they're much cheaper. Also the ear phones are meant to be good unlike the crappy apple ones, which if they're even bumped a little, they break.

If it were possible to put 100% pure unadulterated pleasure into a single application I think Coda has definitely mastered it. The interface is elegant and easy to use along with the powerful transmit ftp engine which just makes life much easier. Also, it supports tons of different coding languages so in this case, one editor suits all!

Coda is definitely worth the $79!

As for the whole OS debate it all depends "what you grew up on". I recently purchased a sexy new BLACK MACBOOK (with OS X) after using Windows PCs all my life and frankly, after using it for a couple weeks, I will never go back. The graphics are stunning, the interface is intuitive and everything just works. Within five minutes of opening the box I was connected to the internet and had all my bookmarks and settings transfered over. I find that OS X really promotes simplicity and allows a large amount of creative freedom so that you can focus on the doing, not the process (the reverse of Windows).

Just always remember that you shouldn't knock it until you've tried it [with an open mind and given it a fair chance]. Just because you couldn't get used to using a totally new OS in the five minutes that you had to try it at a convention doesn't means it's any better or worse than another OS ;)

Sidenote - If you grew up on Windows, then that's what you'll like. You've used it your entire life, you know where everything is, you know how to use it. Before any of you make any judgements on OS X I would suggest you try using it for at least a couple weeks (a month if possible). It's not "evil" or anything, it just takes a different approach than Windows :)

I 'grew up' on Windows, but I decided to give OS X a try. Admittedly I only tried it for 15 minutes, but it was an annoying 15 minutes. I'm sure it's a great OS for other people, but I've just become too comfortable with Windows.

Although I have considered buying a cheap little Mac, just for Coda.
