I've heard alot about the new layout before it was even being announced lol, its focusing very much on the article side of things & news, theyre trying to promote it alot more.

The new layout is a much an improvement to the current one imo. I don't think we will ever remove the classic site skin, its the only currently used example of the original Habbox style.

I would expect the new layout to be created as a forum version as well but that may be a little later on.

I mean the horrible orange that they put on the site, oh wait thats the one right now... I never have liked it much, so I'm welcome to the change. I dont mind the actual orange theme, it's just that skin. :(

Having seen the screenshots, I have to say it looked good earlier in development.

It mixes the traditional Habbox look with more modern graphics and far better interactivity. Don't want to say too much though :P Looking forward to it.

I was just gunna make one for now that matched the new look site, similar to what my previous site skin does now. That will probably end up being ditched soon, it's been yonks since I did that!

I have been meaning to make a new skin altogether, but due to other commitments in real it's been hard. Rest assured once I've finished watching the entire of Series 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Doctor Who I will begin ;)

I agree, I'm really disappointed to be honest. I was expecting a huge change (for the amount of time it took and the way staff went on about it!) it is basically the same with a few minor changes. Hmmm. :( But I suppose beggers can't be choosers... Well done to those who made it.

It's really awful.

The font used is tacky and 'standard'. The layout is plain and boring, there's nothing special. The 'official' badge is slightly blurred, almost as though it has been enlarged.

The colours are vile, its horrible! The font is big and tacky in the nav... the list goes on. A Web 2.0 style Habbox would be much better...

How to improve...
- Remove the top bits underneath the banner, and add them to the side of the site.
- Re do the banner, completely. It's really blurred some of it and very 'My First Layout'ish.
- Make the Nav font smaller.
- Give it some more gloss and 'Web 2.0' feel.
- I know the cash is needed, however with the recent price bumps for VIP and the introduction of VVIP, I don't feel that the advertisements on the main site are needed. Maybe some small text ads at the bottom and on the Forum put the banner back at the bottom.

Remember the first Habbox layout, it sorta brings back that look...with boxes and tables...

For joomla I think that the SEF component you're using is confusing...Maybe you don't know how to set it up but, I never seen someone put the titles as {JoomlaSite}/index.php/pagename. that looks tacky to me but it can be easily resolved.

Yeah, I think you just have to click the arrow on the menus. Clicking the full box just refreshes.

MAD asked for them not to drop down when you hover on them. To get the menu open you have to click on the tab but away from the words. Clicking the words will take you to the main page for that section. Some sections don't have links which drop down though, only 2 or 3.

For all you that think there isnt much difference and that it took "too" long to make. I would like to see you code a template virtually bug free with joomla content manager, most joomla websites use professionally made templates. This is a massive improvement compared to Habbox's free joomla template.

We wanted to keep within the Habbox "culture" we are a big, old and unique fansite why do we want to be like anyone else? More like they want to be like us.

For some of you who haven't been around since i have, back when Habbox began here is a small verison image list. (remember Habbox has had 4Vs) other fansites go through plenty.

I think it's great - amazing. The only problem I've had with it right from the start is that you can't view it in IE6 without it mucking up and that's my primary browser. So I have to use FF for going on to it now, but on FF, it looks amazing!

Ye well if all goes well i could easily css with different colours with a template chooser maybe in the future :) Also will make it easier for me to style for xmas/valentines/halloween and all the other holidays.

Firefox so much better ie reads a lot of things wrong so you have to cancel IE out with css. So some things may still be buggy. There will be a few bugs as we have moved and some images were link directly instead of using ../../images etc.

I would just like to ask, why have such a popular, mature, profeshional organisation known as Habbox fallen back a notch and returned to a simular old design in which was already used.

For such a website with many expierance profeshional staff I myself would have thought you would have gone up a step of your game and realised one of the greatest Habbo fansite layouts to be created, the features are all the same, most of the graphics are poor, the navigators the same but returned to poor graphics etc.

When I had first heard Habbox were to bring out a whole new layout, I myself and and I would presume various other members to have been expecting top mark layout. I muchly prefer the old layout to the current one in my own and obviously presumed others exumptions to the current one.

I apprechiate the new banners, except the graphics of the banners for there superior to dialogue advertising around the Habbox organisation more easier, but I honestly thought you could have done better.

My exumption and conclusion to the new layout, you've just stepped from a profeshional, tidy layout to a step down to the childish type website what is unbareable to even stand reading on from.

P.s. I don't think the layout actually works, maybe if it was to be put into a
more orangie colour but the same graphic it would work abit easier I guess.

I don't see the difference from the old layout apart from bigger banner and the text on the navbar is a little bigger, sorry I expected a biggest better layout with new colours and everything, a little dissapointed.

In my opinion, the layout is ok... but it's much similar to the last layout (well most of it).

And the navbar drop down thing doesn't work because I click it and it drops down, but it loads the page that's on top of the list.

Like when I click Charity, it goes straight to Charity 2006 when I tried to get to the 2007 one.

EDIT: I worked out until they sort it out to click on the drop down then press Esc. or just right click the drop down :D

I really like it. It is kind of an update on a classic and i think that it's great they haven't completely re-invented it.

Also, you don't seem to follow on from that, why don't you like? Childish means absolutely nothing. The old layout didn't work with the theme of Habbo. Colours are meant to be 1 or 2 shades of a certain colour, not hundreds of shades like you get in real life or graphically intense games like MGS4 or CoD4. Professional layouts never work with Habbo fansites, the last layout never did, people complained like crazy and it did look awful with the Habbo images laid next to it. This one at least sticks with the theme of basic colours and very little intense graphics, which Habbo chracters and furniture do not have.

Its not simple lol its a module that is made for joomla its Javascript and php but its temperamental.

When I said yestaday I was disapointed with this layout I just want to make it clear I didn't mean to say it is a bad layout infact its very good I just think the way the management hyped it all up and having been going on about it for ages made my expectations extreamly high. But yeah well done to whoever made it.

Habbox has its "style" because we are habbox, Habbox has been around since 2003 with a similar style and guess which fansite is top! Habbox style is different to every other fansite. We like the "habbox style orange, blues, yellows, etc" and its here to stay for a while.

If you look at the chart of past versions, you can see it has gotten 95% better.

Habbox has a style.. they have always kept to it.. and they have always kept the users coming back.. and entertained.

I love the new layout so well done to all involved :) the only annoying thing is to open the nav menu :O i kept clicking on say rare values and it not opening properly but you have to click on that little triangle thing next to the name which for noobs like myself is pretty technical :O
