View Full Version : Banning people from threads?
So is it possible? It would solve a lot of problem threads. The way it would work is to just select an option/enter a name and it means that certain people are unable to post in that thread. It could also be a VIP feature.
EDIT: "or just moderators having access to it (or S. Mods) just so they can ban the people who are argueing in the thread or something?"

I would love this feature.
But, i'm sorry to say, it could cause bullying and it would be abused.
I can just see it now... :(

Although it's a good idea, it's been suggested before and the idea was rejected, mainly because the feature would be abused.

And because it's not possible by default.
ok, is it possible to just have it as a VIP feature, or just moderators having access to it (or S. Mods) just so they can ban the people who are argueing in the thread or something?
EDIT: to above, :(

The idea would be better if only MOD's could do it.
But instead of banning from a paticular thread, it could be banned from that paticular forum for a day. Then two days etc"!

Referring to hacks MAD? ;) And Dom, that would also require a hack and management don't install hacks unless it's absolutely necessary.
i kinda forgot to mention in the first post that it could just be for mods lmao
sometimes i think it would be a necessity

Can I make it nessersary xD
Na I don't think I can get more infractions than i used too!
I agree with this idea but I think mods/smods (hxf staff longer than 6 months) should be able to choose.

You can just put the person on ignore :)
You can just put the person on ignore :)
Good point, does that also hide their posts in threads?

I suppose so otherwise it's not ignoring them really.

Okay I get ya.
But then another problem is, people may moan about being banned from a thread and then claiming to be "unbanned" may take a while.
I've never actually used that ignore thing ;O!
It would be good to ban people that start arguements on a specific thread from that thread though. :)
it would be good if only mods could ban people.
theres alot of threads which get closed just because of 1 or 2 people.
it is also possible to ban people from threads.

There speaks the voice of simplistic wisdom. :)
Putting people on ignore stops you from viewing all there posts. And honestly, who would have the choice of:
Seeing what there saying
Not seeing what there saying

It's a hack though so it probably won't be installed/implemented.

Well there is the report button and if they keep causing trouble they will be banned I am sure. Otherwise if you don't like their posts as Mr. Sam says you can put them on ignore. :)

Since when was an Arcade absolutely necessary?

Since when was an Arcade absolutely necessary?
People wanted a new VIP feature I guess.
Hardly anyone uses it anyway and there is an exploit in the arcade using which the hacker can hack any user using SQL Injection.

Adding to that why was a chatbox also necessary?

I don't like the sound of banning people from a thread. I prefer the idea of banning people's accounts if they go too far, otherwise its less entertaining.

Yeah I agree with that we need new features but a shoutbox is pointless because hardly anyones in it, and you have to buy VIP just to get to the arcade? :S
