it appears today sulake have opened the applications again for habbo moderators, these have been closed for a long time and it seems they need new moderators for all hotels!
sounds cool :o
What makes u say it though?
Damn - if only I was 18, I'd like some cash to do with my studies :D

b. Internet and computer savvy
c. Excellent typing ability
d. Good communication skills
e. Customer service experience
f. Ability to be fair and impartial
g. Ability to stay cool and in good spirit under pressure
h. Ability to deal with frustrated / angry teens and their parents
Job requirements:
a. Internet connection and working computer
b. Telephone connection
c. Criminal background check acceptance
d. Dealing with Calls for Help from teen players
e. Communicating with team members regularly
f. Problem-solving, troubleshooting
g. Providing shift reports to team members and Community Manager
h. Moderating within the hotel as needed
i. Using staff-specific web tools as required
Just a few more years for me :) are mod jobs part time or full time?

Part time - they do 2hour shifts maybe once or twice a day.

Do they make much money?

You are aware that Habbo's can not become Moderators, since late 2006?
This is coming from somebody who has previously applied, and been declined because of it.

To be honest, I can tick all the required boxes 'cause I've had experience enforcing rules on teens in my job and I haven't played Habbo for time... but, not 18 for another few months so.

That's quite stupid :/ but probably because they might give friends furni etc

Wasn't it mentioned somewhere they prefer it if you don't play Habbo a whole lot or was that a dream I had?

It's part-time. But they do 5 hour shifts. Usually 5 hour shifts ;)

I think that is very strange. I don't know why and lately, all Moderators (except one - who doesn't have a Habbo background at all) that are quite new on NL are Habbo's.
Xavear (was Hobba in UK and NL, oldie), Meekuh (regular Habbo), Tjenske (Habbo), pannas (Habbo).
In NL there are lots of Habbo's who've become Moderator.
By that way... I'm not quite sure about it.
Strange is WHY they did not set any 'preferable' countries they want MODs for in the form/info.

They don't employ Habbos and most Habbos won't have the desired skills they require, most MODs have degrees and many years' community experience. It's not like some silly HabboX application, it's a real job and they only hire professionals

Not true either. It's part-time and desired skills will do the job. No need for any degrees.

It's not a necessity but obviously if there's a high number of applications they'll go for the most qualified applicant and most people on the moderation I've ever spoken to have university degrees.
Your hotel seems different though and hires Habbos or something

I might apply !
With your history Marc? :P
I would apply, but I think I'm a year off that lol. I'll have Moderation experience by then anyway, and my BTEC IT course, plus some anticipation for a security degree the year after. KEKEKE.
That was so boasting, but I don't give a damn. I know someone who applied recently and got the job (Mr Antonio, if anyone knows him) & he only turned 18 recently. He used to play Habbo, so I'm not sure if it really matters. I wouldn't reccomend mentioning you used to play Habbo though, because they will just turn you away.

As Elkaa said, Normal Habbos are not allowed to apply. I think they work 4-5 hour shifts. It may sound easy, but it would really get annoying having to MOD for 4 Hours, sometimes really late, and answering: 'I have been hacked help me', about 100 times. Saying that, it would be a good job if you had a few hours spare in the evening or if you are at university and need a bit of extra money :]

I just thought now actually, isn't that discrimination for Sulake to do that?

You need relevant moderation/community experience. Applying as soon as you turn 18 with a GCSE in ICT isn't relevant moderation/community experience I'm afraid.

Haha, shutup.

I have a bit more than a GCSE in ICT & i have customer service experience! :8

I've applied. Just sent in my CV. ^_^ Would help with the ol' university fees, monstrously expensive as they are now.

I suppose this would be useful for Uni students. With all their friends wondering how they get all that money, haha!
The only thing is, it may not fit around studying etc. etc.
But ye, I can't apply, too young :(

It's weird how Habbos can't apply, when they're probably better to apply because they know how to use Habbo and what issues may come up. In fairness, non-Habbos and Habbos over the age of 18 should be allowed :l

My course is very reading-orientated. I only have about fifteen hours of lectures/seminars a week and the rest of the work I do in my own time so it would be flexible.
Haha, yeah, I would never tell my uni friends where I get the money from. XD I'm nearly 19 so it would just be super-lame. ^_^
I haven't played Habbo for a long time so I think it's an advantage I used to play. You gotta know all the unspoken rules. ^_^
Edit: Back in the old days, I swear Hobbas could be 16...

They won't accept anyone too involved in the habbo community of the hotel in question because they could be biased towards certain users etc.
Yes it's a part time job but you can get more than 2/3 shifts, i know one moderator that works from 9 till 12 sometimes.
It's not the best paying job in the world though.
jinxii
21-06-2008, 12:19 PM
Yeah, but it's a part-time job which a) doesn't incur travel costs; b) is flexible; c) can be done whilst doing other things and d) is probably more entertaining than stacking shelves. I went to a temping agency awhile back and they wanted me to wait tables for £4.80/hr for a nine hour shift. Starting at 6:30am. o.O
Do you know how much it pays?

Not an enormous amount but not as low as everyone thinks i.e. minimum wage. I hear it's good for what they have to do.

I dont see why they don't want Habbo players, what's wrong with experience?

Customer serverice experience should do the job. I'm sure they like that since Habbo Mods (in NL) can also do George Moderating or/and help the Costumer Service (answering emails - when not alot of users are online).
It pays very good ^^ (but you can't share the amount!)

Yeah, well enjoying your job whilst interacting with youths is quite a good job, plus you get paid for it. =P

I heaaaard it was in the region of £7.50 P/H but I may be wrong. I think Customer Service experience is helpful in a virtual sense, it's all very different on the internet for some strange reason. I guess the experience comes as a plus but Habbos easy to get the hang of.
because if you have used habbo you could be biased towards you're friends!
When you've not been on Habbo for 2-3 years, would you really be bias? If people are applying just to let their mates get away with things, theyre not a MOD and frankly they'll have no experience in Moderation anyway if they're ignorant like that.

Tbh, most of the people who play Habbo are way below that. 70% I think are 11 to 16. And the rest are pervy old men. ^_^

Apparently not... lol I would of assumed the pay isn't brilliant but MOD-Shade was talking to me and my friends a few months ago and told us it was terrible pay for the hours he was doing (12am to 3am night shift) =P
jinxii
22-06-2008, 07:04 PM
I guess because it's part-time shift work they don't pay more for unsociable hours. ^_^ Like I said, though, beats stacking shelves in Tesco!
