I don't know if this is the correct forum..
but when you report a post, I think you should recieve a reputation point :d

No 'cause then everyone would report every post.
It should be that if you report a post and action gets taken, you should.

He is right. People would just abuse the system, and report posts that do not need to be. Maybe if you report a post, and if the (S)MOD thinks it is worthy of it, they can +rep you. But, even then people would just create more work for the (S)MOD's, but it is still a good idea.
As said above, people may abuse the system and also if 1 person reports a post that someone else has... could cause caos on who gets the point as checking the time when it was posted would be annoying/hard work for mods.

Disagree as like people have mentioned it would be abused and Professor-Alex probably looked at post reports when he judged the moderators but if that was introduced he wouldn't be able to tell who put the voluntary effort in and who done it for the reputation.

Great Idea actually - but the idea suggested only when super mods approve it was helpful.

thats actually desperate, no?
In all honesty, I don't think it's an idea that will be put into place. It would get abused either way.
Kudos for the idea though.

I forgot to mention it should only be for posts that break the forum rules.
I don't think it's fair if you've reported a post for being helpful or not, as long as it breaks the forum rules and a Moderator hadn't yet spotted the post then the user should recieve rep :)

It's great that you're thinking of new ideas but I think this one has too many negative points. Like has already been mentioned people would find a way to abuse it to gain reputation points. Like Brandon mentioned, Professor-Alex might want to use the report posts function to determine who would be a successful moderator and if this idea was to be implemented he wouldn't be able to differentiate between people using it merely for the reputation or people trying to help the community. Like I said, great to see you suggesting ideas to help, +rep :)

There a addon,
That only one person can report one post
so for ect, if i report Jake post above me, none else can becasue me (i) have already reported the post,
if action gets taken then it means i get a rep point.
so it not really bad, and cant be abused :S.
but i dont like the rep idea anyways lol

Yeah but then the moderation manager will never know who's doing it to aid the moderation members or people greedy for reputation points :P

I do not see this as a realistically viable idea. The incentive to report posts should be to keep the forum safe and report serious rule breaking. That should be enough really. Also those perhaps who are looking for appointment to the Moderation Department know that reporting posts shows initiative
and good/bad judgment depending on what posts they report.
The system you propose would be extremely labour intensive and only a rep editor would be able to police it? Also this could lead to an enormous back log of reported posts for the mods to deal with. Reported posts are all about quality and not quantity. Mods are not interested in the odd pointless post or off-topic they are interested in the more serious rule breaking such as avoiding the filter badly and somebody being very offensive and insulting as an example. This could really hinder them dealing with the harder rule breaking as the post reports forum could well be clogged up with reports of minor and things that are not urgent which can be dealt with in due course.
