Well, I currently have an Nvidia Geforce 8400GS 256mb graphics card, which came installed in my computer when I bought it. Now I want to up the pace a little with my graphics quality and framerate. Could I run this and ASK Inno3D GeForce 9600GT 512MB DDR3 (http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?quicklinx=53JT)
(Click ^ btw) together? And have them both running, or would the fact I have two different model graphics cards running blow one apart?

Just want to check, only post if you know, thanks.
Will.

I have a mate who runs two different cards, but he is using an Apple Mac so I'm unsure whether it will work in a windows PC.

You need an Nvidia SLI motherboard, and two identical cards.

Well I can tell you right now that is ********.

You can run different cards, however you won't be able to run them together to get more performance.

If you got two, would you be able to run a game on one screen and use the other seen as msn ect?

It depends how you set it up. I think with default settings (and no program running that deals with 2 monitors) will make the secondary screen go blank while the primary screen will play the game.

If the game is fullscreen, then one screen would go blank. However if you search the name on Google then "in windowed mode" there may be a solution to run the game as a windowed application, so the other screen wouldn't go blank. Sometimes going to the properties of the shortcut to the game, and at the end of thee target path entering " -w" makes it run in windowed mode.

It can be done if the motherboard has the relevant sockets. I'm not sure about doing it with 2 PCI-E cards though.

Hardly. He uses one card to run one screen and his more powerful card to run games on the other.

I fail to see how the game would decide what graphics card to use?

They can't be SLi then.

At the moment no but as Nvidia has bought out PhysX technology, they're going to allow you to dedicate one card to physics processing. The cards don't even have to match. There was an article on digg, I'll see if I can find it.

One whole card for processing physics is a waste.

PhysX sucks compared to Havok.
