What the article suggests was that he hadn't quite come to terms with the concept of suicide... It seems he was doing it for attention, without realising he'd actually die in the process.

He didn't kill himself just because of the wii. Thats what tipped him over the edge.
Something else was occurring that filled his head up with resentment. He turned to his wii to escape from whatever was fuelling it. His parents were concerned but felt that spending to much time on the Wii was the cause of his demise when it was the other way around. So, he couldn't find an alternative to escape and killed himself. Maybe, however it was a mistaken attempt to reach out for help subconsiously and instead was an accident, however something was wrong with him and the issue needed to be addressed to a professional. Too late for that now. =(
