Rock Band 2 Announced...Already..

Rockband 2 has been announced for a September release.

The sequel to the popular "Rockband" game will be hitting the 360 first, with the 'other' platforms getting a release later in the year.

Rockband 1 downloadable content will be compatible with the new game, along with the peripherals. However, "upgraded" instruments will also be available upon release.

DLC aside, along with all of the available tacks from Rockband 1, Rockband 2 should have over 300 songs available to play straight off the bat. You can also expect major improvements to online functionality and a more "party friendly" set-up.

In an interview with IGN, Lead Designer Dan Teasdale had this to say:

"We've taken almost everything people have asked for in Rock Band and added it to Rock Band 2, as well as including some "first time ever" features."

Rockband 2 should debut at E3 this coming July.

What the hell are they thinking >.< It's only just come out in the UK and they're releasing a new one, luckily people can still use the Rock band 1 instruments and DLC but it seems so pointless to be honest =/

It's not 2 games in a year; the game was released last year in the US... And the UK will probably have to wait another 6 months after the US date once again...

PS3, Wii and PS2 haven't even got the first one in UK yet. Once again a damn 360 timed exclusive. It had to happen on a game i really want :P

Guitar Hero is released every year and the US release dates of the original Rock Band and the sequel is a year as well, so it's fine. Besides, the games hardly take much time to develop. My brother's had it 7 months.

Rock Band 1 came out last year, so this is pretty good news.. ^_^. It will be 6 months in the UK after US release anyway (most prob)

Rock band has been out for ages - just took a while to get to the UK :P. I am glad I never bothered with rock band 1 since 2 is going to get new instruments.

I might buy guitar hero 4 (world tour) instead as it seems better though out from the start.

I dont really care about rb2 anyway. I just was rb1 to be released for ps3. I will care about rb2 when i've finished with rb1 if it ever gets released for ps3.

Its out August/September this year for PS3 i think. Instruments from rb1 will work on rb2 though so just need the new disk :)
