View Full Version : Referrals and Reputation..
Well, I sort of had a tiny idea that I think would encourage people to get others to sign up, say for every 10, 20 referrals, that users Rep Power increases by 1?
Obviously the amount of referrals can be discussed, and even though I quite like the idea myself, I know that it can be and most likely will be abused.
But, I'd love to hear your opinions.

Very nice idea Dan :).
Although on the other hand, generally people are not bothered about rep.
Therefore this may only apply to a few users who would take the time :).
Very nice idea never the less.

Good idea, it will get more users and it will get the rep system used again, even since they've changed it I haven't really used it.

It's the type of thing new forums tend to do, to encourage new members to join, and I don't think this forum ever had the need to do it, because I would have earnt a lot from my 72 referrals. I think I have the most referrals, unless someone can tell me otherwise ;)
Part of the problem, is monitoring it, a new member joins for example and may only make one post and never sign in again, now would you consider that a genuinely recruited new member?

Good idea, I had 10 then it went to 2.

Yeah, I have 1 referral and I don't know who >_<
I know what you mean though, that's one of the faults with my idea that I had took into thought, and then there's the fact that people would just create new emails, etc.

Good idea but as people have said people are not much are interasted in rep anymore, maybe there could be a Referal competion of some sort and the winner wins VIP or something along thoes lines.

It could be a very good idea, I'm not knocking it all, it just needs or would need further thought by the management. I know when they do a bit of a clean up your referrals can reduce, so I don't really know how they could monitor it in a fair way.

I think a lot of DJ's such as H0BJ0B, Dinasaw, ,Jess, and other older DJ's have a lot of refurals :] I think it is a good idea, but as Alice said, isn't really needed in the Forum and people could just create clones accounts to get more rep and abuse the system.
Saying that people don't really care about rep anymore, imo isn't right.
You make a thread saying "CLICK HERE FOR REP" or "POST BELOW FOR REP" and you'll soon find the thread full of posts.
I still don't get why people keep saying "Oh rep is pointless", etc when it's not. It's the same as it was before just lower powers but it'll stay low/pointless if people keep saying it's pointless... lol
as for the idea it sounds pretty neat but the best thing would be like what lAscend (I believe..) said about the competition with the winner winning VIP.
I'm not sure how well this would work though because there was supposed to be something like that with the arcade but that kinda flopped..

People could easily make new accounts with their main account as referrer, would be exploitable unfortunately. Nice idea, but also the forum's hardly lacking in members lol

All the time -rep is available then positive rep is important, you are right. It adds a bit of a buzz to the forum, even if there are lesser powers. Being rewarded gives everyone a nice feeling, and I honestly believe very few really don't care about rep.
I dont agree with the post about the rep system bein pointless. It is lol xD :P But... Tbh, I think people would abuse this system. With the clones :S So.. good idea tho

As do most ideas, not many of them come out perfect straight away :)
Its an interesting idea but as some people have said, I'd question the necessity of it on a forum that is easily bigger than any other habbo forum and is still getting more new members simply by word of mouth already. Also, your point about people abusing it is a rather large one. It could also turn into a similar situation as rep buying where your rep power could sometimes be an indication of how rich you are, not how well you post.

DJ's have by far the best opportunity to promote Habbox, they have every listener listening, a golden opportunity to tell listeners who haven't already signed up to sign up, so in all honesty they should have more referrals than anyone else ;)

Agreed, it suits new sites as a whole. If a reward is offered it is likely to be abused!

You don't quite have the most ;)

It's a good idea but the forum doesn't really need it as practically everyone knows about HxF anyway, it's just they decide to browse as guests or have unused accounts and such.
It's a good idea but without a doubt it will get abused alot, seeing as you can switch ip's in a matter off seconds using a VPN/proxy it's not too hard to do so.
