Hi
I am looking for a basic PC (xp or vista, preferably xp) and have found this. Its vista, and cost £270. I know its basic but I only need it for microsoft word and because its similar to the schools system, so it would be helpful with GCSE's coming up. What do you think? Heres the link -

Thanks :)

Just remember, you can probably get it 25% cheaper elsewhere.

Yes, I know, even a second hand one would suit me. I would use my macbook for general stuff, but the windows for GCSE work. If anyone has any ebay links or similar for cheap computers that are suitable, please post them, I will give +rep

He gets a monitor with the PC world one too so the overclockers ones are more expensive in reality...

It's an okay price, but 1GB of RAM for Vista is a pain. It will feel slow and sluggish. If you decide to get it in the end, see if you can grab an extra stick.

I heard that makes using the mac and pc on the macbook very slow if you do that. Also, I don't know where to buy it from - unless you just get an ordinary windows CD, or do you need to purchase a mac version? If you get what I mean.

Just download VMWare and use that, my mate has the demo and just turns his Mac clock backwards when the trial is going to run out. There are other methods of making it work too.

I wouldn't buy a PC just to use MS Word, just emulate Windows on your Mac.
