Ok I have just read the news article on the fansite way...
BUT it says fansite must NOT charge users for extra access to things...
Does this mean HxF is breaking rules for selling VIP?
Also don't clubhabbo have 'clubhabbo homes'?
If so they are breaking rules too..
The Fansite Way has been updated. Whether you are an Official Fansite or an Unofficial Fansite, you must follow the Fansite Way.
Habbo is a place where people come to relax, hang out and make new friends in a safe, non-threatening environment. The same goes for Habbo Fansites. If you want to use Habbo graphics on your site then you have to follow a simple set of rules; The Fansite Way. Also, anything you feature on your fansite must not break the Habbo Way, or influence users to break the Habbo Way.
Fansites CAN:
- Post fun, friendly Habbo news with your own analysis.
- Hold competitions and parties in Habbo.
- Allow all Habbos to join in without discrimination.
- Discuss non-offensive Habbo gossip on forums.
- Create fun, non-offensive alterations.
- Offer help for new and old Habbos.
- Hold events for your readers.
- Allow your visitors to post a photo of themselves that's appropriate and does not contain personal information.
- Offset your hosting costs with advertising banners or ad words.
- Use publically accessible images created and owned by Sulake Corporation Oy responsibly and within the restrictions of the Fansite Way and Terms & Conditions of Habbo Hotel.
Fansites Must NOT:
- Offer Hacking, Scripting or Editing Programs.
- Publish any unreleased news regarding updates, new Furni or features without Sulake's prior permission.
- Ask visitors for their Habbo passwords or personal information such as telephone numbers or home address.
- Charge users for premium services such as VIP access.
- Act as an affiliate for a commercial entity, nor offer merchandise (including Habbo Furni) or services for sale.
- Offer to buy, sell or trade Habbo accounts for real money or Habbo Credits.
- Break the law or talk others into breaking it.
- Publish any material which may be offensive to other users or contains sexual content.
- Publish any personal information, pictures, video or documents belonging to Sulake Corporation Oy.
- Use slander or any other form of bullying in order to harass other people.
- Disrupt the operation of any other official or unofficial fansite nor disrupt the Hotel community.
- Replicate any part of the Habbo Hotel service ('Retro' Hotels, Habbo Home clones etc).
- Represent that your site is approved by or affiliated with Sulake Corporation Oy or that any other content on your site is approved by or affiliated with Sulake Corporation Oy.

Another thing members have noticed that's changed with the fansite way is that Habbo users can now post images of themselves. Apparently Habbox are in discussion about whether or not they should allow it too and the obvious answer is yes. There is no logical reason not to, if the site you've based a fansite on has allowed it, and is an actual company so should know what they are doing. Also, the forum is a teen community, so the management should really act their age and follow suit. You could add a small restriction saying "Only post images of yourself, not of anybody else" because the norm for posting images of someone else is to harass or bully, but you'll have to follow user behaviour and see if they do post images of other people and if they bully, keep the rule and if not, get rid of it. Adding to that, you shouldn't to have in the rule "Don't post pictures of others users to bully other them" considering there is already a rule about bullying.

I don't personally see a problem with posting your own picture on the forum its just something I wouldn't personally choose to do.. but like Gomme said its something they should kind of trial then come to a decision. Regarding VIP I think the best thing to do would just contact Lost_Witness or who ever is in charge of fansites at Habbo and ask them.

Yeah I see what your saying but if people really wanted to do post a picture of someone to bully them they could do it now with the rule in place. I mean if they make a thread with someone elses picture for that reason they'll probably say something like 'hahaha heres a picture of Dan2nd naked' so it'll be obvious to mods to remove it.

Precisely, there isn't really a reason not to allow users to post pictures of themselves, as long as they are aware of risks. To be honest though, you rarely get bullies in the spam forum over links to pictures of users, you normally end up pulling through them :P

Please keep the picture rules as they are and stop them being on avvies, why you ask? Well take a look at Clubhabbo forums and you'll see why. Almost all posts on there now have an picture off an 10 year old trying to either put on an 'hot' or 'gangster' pose and it's quite annoying tbh. If my parents were to see me on CH they'd probably think it's an dating site for kids that haven't gone through puberty yet.

Agreed :eusa_clap
Habbo lost its community feel when they started putting stupid amounts of furni in the catalogue. Yes they are a business but they are not even close to the fine line of fun and profit making. Habbox has offered VIP for years and does not have to give to charity which it does so it shows they are pretty good. I think habbo/sulake have turned into an arrogant greedy dictatorship and hold a gun to site owners heads especially where their crappy official status is concerned. They should sort out their own customer service before making up random rules just to upset everybody.
If you are forced to remove VIP I would gladly donate each month for no benefits and hope you advertise other sites to push ppl away from habbo so in the long run they lose more money than habbox.
On the legal side I think just changing it to Habbox Donator would be fine if it was worded that you are not buying extra benefits and could also give so many Donator/VIP colours to random ppl just to show its not only given to cash donators.
As far as going to court goes I doubt Habbo would take it that far but if they did I would think Sierk would argue the case and have far more support than habbo. Donate to VIP to support habbox legal battle :p
Can habbox not just move to a server in a country outside of the laws habbo would try to enforce? then tell them to get ******.
I love the new layout btw :) about time the temporary.............. site got replaced ;)

Habbo and everybody would group all hx sites as one and because they all have the same owner I dont think there is a way out of that but it also says official and un-official so they are saying ALL habbo sites.

Any Habbo related site has this issue. HabboxForum IS a Habbo Fansite in it's own right, and they can argue that with the large amounts of Habbo catagories and forums, aswell as the name. Has there been any word from Habbo regarding this? Moving servers etc will cost Habbox a great deal of money over something like this, there would be no point really and Habbo may still have a point regardless to what country Habbox is apart of. Isn't there such thing as international copyright laws with these things?
I'm tempted to email Habbo and see what stupid reason they give.

I think they ignore emails where they have to put their heads on the block incase their wrong. I emailed asking some questions a while back and no reply to any of my emails after the stupid auto reply and if you email directly i get told to use the stupid help tool. :eusa_wall
Good luck :)

I totally agree with you - I left Habbo a while ago because of the amount of greediness that goes on in the game - People are resulting to scamming as a way of getting furniture because it costs to much or because they can't keep buying credits. I know Habbo is meant to make money but... Take GaiaOnline for example, they give you free "credits/coins" to start off with and you can either earn/buy more - If you want to get some good things you have to buy them - I think its a good way of earning profit. As for the VIP nothing will happen about it because Habbo would have done something by now - How do they expect prices to be paid? And for the photos - I agree with --ss-- I don't like the idea of having 12 year olds in their avatars trying to be cool.
